Last night.
Nassau Street, Dublin 2
Taoiseach Micheál Martin at the Kilkenny shop demonstrating how YOU can “shop local and shop safely” this Christmas, as retail reopens up as part of the phased move to Level 3 restrictions. It helps when they open the store just for you.
Sublime message to Corkonians….’look at me, supporting the Blarney Kelleher’s’
In the current climate, you probably shouldn’t be in a photo op touching the merchandise if you’re not gonna buy it, you dozey f-wit!
I guess you would frown at my pre purchase tactile lick test
If by “frown” you mean be aroused, then yes..
Went to the Kilkenny Shop there last year with a foreign friend who was leaving for home and was looking to buy some gifts. They left empty-handed with a poor impression of Irish design, if this was any example to go by. Mostly very tacky and dated-looking tat squarely aimed at tasteless American tourists. I’m sure there’s some talented artists who have good products to be found in market stalls and online, but mostly this particular store felt somewhat embarrassing when you hope for something more akin to the tasteful industrial and textile design our Northern European cousins are known for.
