This day 38 years ago – 8 February 1983 – Derby-winning racehorse Shergar was kidnapped from Ballymany Stud Farm, Co Kildare.
A ransom of £2 million was demanded.
In 2018, Kieran Conway, a former member of the Provisional IRA, claimed the group had been behind the abduction. pic.twitter.com/5XaWOfG0FM

Found in Belfast, eating supergrass. As the joke went at the time.
later ended up on the 20p piece.
fellow in a pub once told me that his father had been tasked with holding and taking care of shergar. the horse-nappers, according to him, arrived in the middle of the night with the horse in a maniacal frenzy, utterly uncontrollable. and that they couldnt manage him. they shot the horse within an hour, said he. however, later in that conversation, he also told me that he had received a BJ from naomi campbell on a transatlantic flight to new york and wrote the lyrics for the songs that later appeared on the joshua tree while bono was in rehab.
So Adam Clayton shot Shergar?
yes
and may or may not have given him a jolly trouser time first
If it was as arrhythmic as his bass playing….
some like opera, some like punk
