That Little Tent Of Blue Which Prisoners Call The Sky

at

This morning/afternoon.

Details of a proposal to establish a mandatory hotel quarantine system, initially for visitors from 20 ‘hot’ states, are still being worked on by the cabinet. The legislation is ‘likely to take two to three weeks’ to come into law.

Via RTE News:

…It is agreed that those who stay in mandatory quarantine for 14 days will have to pay for their stay and will take a number of tests for Covid-19 during that time.

Private security firms are likely to be involved in the day-to-day running of the facilities but gardaí will have a role if any laws are breached.

It is also expected that the Defence Forces could play a part in the logistical planning to set up the system…

Some minor celebrity will arrive there and record a vlog. The tennis players in the Melbourne hotel adored the attention.

You travel in the middle of the pandemic, you take the consequences. Fine for unnessary travel and 2 weeks quarantine. That’ll cost the guts of 4 grand so we’ll see how necessary that “dental” trip to Tenerife will be in a couple of weeks.

There’s a lot of misinformation in the bottom half of the internet on this topic I think. It’s hard to know for sure whether people really understand it, or whether they’re just reading headlines. Are you sure that what you’re saying is correct?

I don’t believe Fuerteventura (Spain) is on the high risk list. Is it only passengers from high risk countries who need to hotel quarantine?

It should be all countries. Our govt is hardly au fait with the unknown new mutants currently percolating. Clueless, incompetent and negligent one year later..

The slow rate this government moves at is legendary. 3 weeks to enact legislation that was talked about 3 months ago. The vaccination rollout seems to be suffering the same fate. Kids, granny ain’t gonna be at the table this Christmas either as we’ll still be in lockdown.

Why does that not surprise me? Australia’s been doing it for ages regardless of status, millionaire tennis players, tv personalities nobody getting special treatment.
