Gemma is an long term unemployed crank whose daily life involves filming “fake ambulances”, shouting into the void and abusing (herself) and anyone else she comes across, from shop assistants to passers-by, aided and abetted by a disgruntled walking corpse John Waters. Are we supposed to think these are the actions of a sane and well woman?

I do feel somewhat sorry for her as all this is guaranteed not to end well.

  2. Tarfton Clax

Any alt right gammon nonsense she can shout about in a hopeless struggle to stay raking in those internet clicks…

anti-vax, anti-gay, anti-cyclist, anti-climax. Any guess as to the target of her next half baked hatred? pedestrianisation? (same first three letters as “Pedo.” so obvs…) LTN’s? (liked by latte drinking liberals), Solar Power? (pagan Sun Worship)?
    any other guesses?

Funny that rancid homophobes like O’Doherty and their “FreeDumb” shouting acolytes belong to the same hate filled knuckle draggers who being anti-science, argue that HIV is not a virus but a gay life style disease and align themselves with the rest of the anti-vaxxers and anti-public health measures during a pandemic.

  4. SOQ

There is no doubt but that some gay people are unhappy- as the mental health, self-abuse and suicide rates testify BUT, those figures are for the most part directly related to the levels of homophobia they have encountered- so who is really at fault?

Also Gemma, it is not a ‘lifestyle’ because that infers a choice. It is a sexual orientation over which which people have no control- take it from someone who actually knows- who would chose to be treated in such a way?

        1. Tom J

No, a lot of people who are not gay also have mental issues confounded by a lack of understanding which lead to unhappiness and suicide.

          1. SOQ

The stats show that gay and trans people have much higher rates of above. That is not to say other people do not struggle too, especially in the current circumstance- its not a competition?

          2. Tom J

I’m not saying it’s a competition, I’m saying people have mental issues regardless of whether they are gay straight trans or whatever gender they maybe. I am speaking from experience. it is very sad when a loved one commits the unthinkable.

          3. Bitnboxy

SOQ is merely explaining why gay people tend to have disproportionately high rates of self harm when from a very young age society tells them there is something wrong with them. Even in our mostly enlightened country, formative years for some young gay people can still be harrowing.

What SOQ is not saying is that gay people have some monopoly on suicide and self harm. Obviously not.

Often some people who make your point about suicide and gay bullying Tom J tend to want to brush the identity of existence of gay people under the carpet.

The real issue the Iona “Institute” have with gay people, is not marriage equality of civil partnerships both of which they virulently opposed…but the whole idea of the visibility, acknowledgement and validation of gay people in society. What they crave is a return to a shadow world where there is a general societal taboo around homosexuality.

So do plenty of people. No one is saying that mental health problems don’t present across all spectrums of society, because they do. But SOQ’s comment specifically referred to mental health issues within the gay and trans sphere – something he has more knowledge and experience with than the average commenter here, and it ties in with the subject of this post in particular.

As SOQ says, it’s not a competition.

          5. millie bobby brownie

            @Tom

Apologies, my point wasn’t clear. I meant plenty of people have experience with suicide and mental health problems in this country. I would say you’d actually be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t some form of experience with it.

          6. SOQ

I worked on a major project in Dublin where everyone was everyone.

Young fella, fit as fluck, GAA/gym every day. Went home for the holidays and despite having a wife and two toddlers, entered a newly built garage and never came out- on Christmas day.

I had to clear his desk- he was gay.

    1. Bitnboxy

+1 I watched a documentary on the gay purge in Chechnya rubberstapmed by Putin. The barbarity is simply indescribable. https://ifi.ie/film/gaze-2020-welcome-to-chechnya/

I don’t anyone would “choose” to be gay if this is the result.

I don’t think most of us in the West can comprehend this level of fear. Makes me think of the young Belarussian journalist Protasevich also. Can you imagine the level of fear when he realised the flight was being forced to land in Minsk delivering him into Locoshenka’s arms?

        1. Bitnboxy

Source of evidence: “Clint Warren” Twitter account. ROFL!

Go on out of that crazy pants.

        2. Bitnboxy

I might also add Italia90 that it is a common trope of tin-pot dictator Locoshenko in Belarus and his master, head thug Putin, to portray all opposition to their klepto-regimes as fascists. Typically used also by these journalist-killing apes against any member of the current elected Ukrainian government- the country Putin is attempting to infect with his thuggery.

          1. italia'90

Ви коли-небудь залишаєте підвал своїх матерів?

My brother in law is a retired Ukrainian Army Captain.
Before Covid I would visit western Ukraine 2-3 times a year.
The rise of fascism was evident from 2015, that I noticed anyway.
Your hero fought with the notorious Nazi supporting, Hitler loving
            Azov Battalion. It’s well documented.
He even took a bullet in the chest when in the Donbass.

          2. Bitnboxy

            Ok, Sure Jan.

or should I more appositely say…

            Ok, Sure Clint!

By the way, that tweet has disappeared. How disappointing, such a reputable account.

I’ll let you get back to Russia Today and fantasizing over what Locoshenka is doing to Protasevich..

          3. Bitnboxy

@Janet (The real one) – it’s not about you!

Still, twitter meme speak is annoying. You are right there. ;-p

        3. italia'90

That tweet is still there, still readable.
You’re full of sh one t.
Go back to trolling on the journal,
much easier and more gullible suckers there for your bs.

          1. Bitnboxy

Sorry, I don’t speak dysfunctional incel.

            You’ll have to translate.

            Sorry about it.

          2. italia'90

Aww is your twanslator no workie?

            Don’t worry.

I’m sending your ma home now in a taxi.

She’ll yell it down to you in the basement soon enough.

Night night my new bestie x

      1. Bitnboxy

That should read: “…most of us in the West cannot comprehend this level of fear”

  5. Tom J

Gemma O’Doherty doesn’t know any happy people. Everyone she knows are all miserable sad bewildered and lost souls.

  6. goldenbrown

I have fairly average outgoings and I know for sure that if I was out of work for the length she has supposedly been even if I owned my gaff outright I’d have some very larg€ holes in my boat

I’m not aware of any independent wealth factor and I know she doesn’t live in a cardboard box under a bridge

    so who is her benefactor?

where is she getting the money from to live this life??
(and all the bats crusades that go with it)

    1. Kate

Her late husband and Gemma got undisclosed amount of dosh from the Indo for unlawful dismissal + a grovelling apology. She may well be living from the interest alone!

      1. Bitnboxy

Yup the Indo settlement was big but her semi-D in a lower middle class area of south county Dublin is modest, she drives an old banger and always appears to wear the same clothes. Isn’t Jimmy Guerin suing her? Not sure if the State will press to get the money owed (when the Supreme Court will invariably refuse to hear that crank appeal) but she is at the risk of a judgment mortgage being slapped on her semi-D from either of both. Guerin appears determined to get to a hearing.

    2. Unreal

One thing I like about Gemma is that she pisses off so many people I truly despise

  7. Cú Chulainn

Jon, will you have to be unhappy now ? I suppose you have a promiscuous life ahead to look forward to.. so every cloud and all that..!!

  8. Redundant Proofreaders Society

Why would anyone’s happiness depend on the views of ONE failed journalist?
Get a grip and live your life. Big world out there, Jon, with billions of people.

  9. Rob_G

I guess Gemma won’t be getting invited on Broadsheet on the Telly for any more soap-soft interviews any time soon.

  10. Micko

By all accounts, Gemma used to be ok right? She was pretty good at her job etc?

I never really heard of her before she started spouting this rubbish, but according to most on here she was ok at one stage.

Are we looking at a genuine mental health issue here. Did she have a breakdown or something or was she radicalised by someone / something? Is there a turning point anyone can point to?

Because the stuff she’s crapping out now – no one of any rational mind would agree with her.

    1. J Dizzle

She may have. remember all the other journalists were protesting her removal from INM a few years back. Éamonn Dunphy was always cheering her on saying she was treated disgracefully. then she was compensated and she was able to speak, and we found out she may have actually had some mental disorder. Claiming gay people aren’t happy?? all the other crazy poo she screams from the roof top. She and he cronies should be ignored, she’s a pain in the country’s hole now.

        1. Bitnboxy

Well she has said a lot worse about other people she doesn’t like. To be honest, Gemma is more to be pitied than scorned.

    2. Hank

I remember watching a video somewhere of her wandering around a suburb recording herself as she spouted a monologue of ever more ludicrous “facts” about what was going on around us but society is too blind to see.
I thought it was very clear from that video of just her, alone with her thoughts, that there are serious mental health issues there. Hopefully, she can get some help at some stage. Can’t be any fun living like that..

      1. Redundant Proofreaders Society

Jesus lads, listen to yourselves – ye are like a bunch of oul wans at the Bingo, gossiping about Mrs ‘So-and-so’ and how she was grand once, awful clever and landed herself a compo claim so not short of a bob, but somewhere along the way must’ve taken a turn and now is not right in the head and sure maybe it was the poor crater losing her husband that did it, but she’s a danger now to everybody and no friend to the gays and does be out and about muttering away to herself about all sorts.

        1. Bitnboxy

It’s kind of true though. I think it’s just the sheer slow motion car crash that is her existence that bemuses most folks. She generates sympathy and ire in equal measure but her current manifestation of unhinged nastiness can bring grief and woe to some folk.

          1. Redundant Proofreaders Society

We treat GOD like we do Tubridy, Leo the Leak and Jedward; when you ignore them they can’t annoy you.

          2. Unreal

The amount of foaming batshit drivel
You engaged in here for months against one rather equally silly poster
Denotes a level of decrepitude far more voluminous
            Than anything Gemma has provided

        2. Bitnboxy

I’d agree with you Remainder re ignoring her but this clip actually generated so much positivity that maybe Gemma actually in her own twisted way, does some good. Sometimes one’s faith is restored in human nature due to the response to her unhinged bile.

Or her times she brings mirth.

    3. Micko

The fact that she’s used as shorthand for “crazy person” can’t be helping her.
