The price is only your unquestioning obedience.
Would you like me to wrap it for you?

RESISTANCE TO TYRANTS IS ODEDIENCE TO GOD!!1!!11!!1111!!!!

this one placard says so much, about everything!

  1. Fergalito

Introducing “God” into the equation here is just nonsense.

The greatest f**king tyrant of them all.

          1. Sam

The world continues on it’s own, god sends nothing . The world and the people on it do what they do and we have the freedom of choice to abide by the rules he set out . Do or dont , the choice is yours . But he’s not puppet master , don’t infantilise your and everyone else’s choices – you made them or someone made them and we reap the consequences good or bad.

          2. Rosette of Sirius

Just curious Sam, but which god do you believe in. There is a few thousand of them after all….

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

God sends nothing because god doesn’t exist. But you have people who believe that he does but don’t want to believe that he’s a genocidal monster.

          4. Sam

            @ Daisy Chainsaw
Again , genocidal monster – how please
Don’t get me wrong , I agree there are and have been genocides but I’m pretty sure humans were responsible for that.

          5. Daisy Chainsaw

If you believe in god, then Covid is god’s will because viruses don’t have free will.

        1. Sam

          @ Daisy Chainsaw
I’m confused , do you think god is going to change the world for people on a daily basis according to their wishes ,it does bang of Nanny state or do you think he let’s the scenario play out , because again free will . Just an aside that’s a whole lot of anger your wielding there at a God you don’t think exists.

        2. scottser

my response to anyone who invokes god, is ‘is it not a heresy to think you know the will of god and to speak for him’?
          usually shuts them up.

        3. Fergalito

“How he works” – God’s not a fridge though you might say if I allow myself to open the door to him the light will come on. “How he works” is prescribed by those who created a hierarchy around Jesus and is deeply flawed.

I take what you said about free will but remove God from that. We are responsible for the choices and decisions we make. Simple as that. Holding one’s life to ransom on the promise of eternal sunshine in a fantastical realm is not my bag.

      1. Fergalito

Oh sorry, how is he a tyrant? Well he’s an artifice created by a religious hierarchy whose supposed message has been used to terrorise, abuse and demonise people for their humanity – corporeal and ideological. He’s a proxy in truth, the tyranny is waged by those who preach his message, adjusted edited and suitably ambiguous to justify whatever end it can be manipulated for.

  2. Junkface

    Face palm to infinity.

Our education system needs an improvement on literacy standards.

      1. Nilbert

why oh why oh why didn’t he spell it nonce-sense?

we would have had full edgelord Bingo!

    1. Nilbert

I think its an attempt to ridicule the original estimates of mortality rates. You know, the rates we avoided by implementing the lockdown measures, the massive efforts of healthcare professionals, and rolling out a vaccine?

  3. Micko

    These people are clearly misled.

Bodger, would you have a think about not promoting them maybe?

I think they only drag the actual “side” who has a coherent argument against the restrictions down with them.

I think that’s why when someone makes a comment here against the restrictions, it’s too easy for the “pro-restriction” side to label us / them as 5G conspiraloons or tinfoil hat wearers.

These guys are clearly gone down a dark road with this stuff and I really don’t think most sensible anti-restriction folks have much in common with them.

More scientists and politicians against the restrictions and less of these misguided people.

    Anyway, it’s just a thought. ;)

I agree – they are doing your cause no good. “Are we the bad guys?” comes to mind.

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

Embarrassed by your fellow travellers? The crazies who say the quiet bits out loud represent you more than you realise.

      1. Micko

        Be chill Daisy.

        Remember…

I was always quite fond of…

“Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”
          Nelson Mandela

        2. Daisy Chainsaw

I’m wonderfully chill, laughing at you complaining that your fellow antis are doing it wrong and making you look bad by association.

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

Sure you don’t. You don’t care so much that you keep having to respond to say how much you don’t care.

Scammers and cranks are the leaders of the antivax, antilockdown movement. If they embarrass you, ask yourself why.

            Have a think Daisy.

          1. Micko

Well, since we’re “doing the pedant thing” again CIAN!!

Pretty sure some acids can eat through glass.

It’s plastic most can’t eat through.

Did ya not see Superman III?

for some reason that I get all my science from the movies strikes me as bellyache funny :)

I cycled through this protest yesterday and stopped for 10 minutes for a listen. I was hoping to see myself photographed so I could outrage my wife.

I’m disappointed to see ‘Micko’ (a liberal free thinker I would say) condemn Broadsheets coverage of the event and indeed the constant badgering of Bodger by others (see what I did there) for covering this and other ‘unpleasant’ views and opinions.

I don’t think I share the ideology or views of Dee Wall or her followers but I can empathise with their bewilderment and feeling of betrayal & exclusion. To think you have some kind of monopoly on what is ‘the right view’, the ‘correct perspective’ is really quite incorrect. We’re all in this together after all!!

I was lucky enough to read ‘John Stuart Mill – On Liberty’ when I was young enough for it to shape my perspective and I always return to this –
“If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

As for Broadsheets tremendous coverage of all things. I think it says what you need to know in the byline ‘Everything. As it Happens.’

      1. Micko

        Ah jeasus Frank

        Gimme a break man. ;)

I just don’t think promoting people with “Frankenstein vaccine” or “vaccines kill” on placards is helping anyone.

I also don’t think it’s a “scamdemic”. It’s just a massive overreaction that has been co-opted by knobs making money off it.

Clearly the vaccines work, I just think they should only be given to people who really need them. ie – not the young as we don’t have any data on the long term effects.

I know some friends of mine think I’m a 5G conspitaloon just because I disagree with the lockdown and these guys are exactly the type of person they think of when I say I’m anti lockdown. .

Frankly, I’m tired of being lumped in with them.

These guys aren’t helping anyone. Certainly not me.

I just want some actual rational debate in the media and these guys make it super effin easy for RTE to go “ look at the crazies everyone”

        1. frank

I am with you Micko on all of that but silencing someone because you think you know better is ‘Cian or Nigel’ territory (you use to be cool man) and it’s pretty bleak. I completely agree there is far greater problem and that is ‘no debate’. RTE have a lot to answer for having zero ‘Questions & Answers’ style public debate with those accountable. It’s shocking really. That and their complete abandonment of all cultural television programming.

Public opinion is steered by RTE and the bias and imbalance through lack of discourse is astounding.

          1. Micko

I get your point Frank, but I’m not trying to silence anyone man. I don’t think I know better and I may of course be wrong.

I just asked Bodger to have a think about it.

These images might be hurting the points we’re trying to make with people.

Actually, an aul bit of uniformity might help the protesters. Imagine the impact if they all had the same style banners etc.

Bit of a rebrand needed methinks, as right now they’re a bit rag tag.

PS: I’m still cool right ;)

        2. SOQ

That is called controlling the narrative Micko- pick the most extreme ridiculous position and attempt to discredit all dissent with it. And, more to the point, most of those who automatically assume all dissent is conspiracy don’t even realise they are doing it- such is the lack of self awareness.

But when you see the amount and types of people taking to the streets in London and Belin- it is quite obvious that most are just normal Joe Soaps who are fed up with this abuse of power.

What happened in the convention centre yesterday was an absolute disgrace and proves the old saying that when you give politicians power, it is very difficult to get it off them again.

There’s a gig later on by the anti-vax supergroup The Tinfoil Milliners (Van on vocals, Eric Clapton on guitar, Jim Corr on Drums & Lawrence Fox just being a tool). Oxygen is wasted on some people. Crucifixion would be too good for them. Maybe Broadsheet can start consulting the Daily Express on Brexit or offer Piers Morgan a column on mental health issues.

  5. Sam

Wow , I see the echo chamber is strong with you guys.
Anyhoo ,whatever ye do don’t examine anything , make fun of anyone with a differing opinion and keep giving yersevles backslaps what could possibly go wrong.
We shall just ignore the numbers and history and I’m sure everything will be alright.

  6. Joe

On a previous anti-vaxx post promoting a protest on Broadsheet, Bodger mentioned that the likes of these protesters were all regular normal everyday people.

I had a wonderful surrealist conversation with two individuals after they had wrapped up and were finished protesting. They asked me was I protesting and I honestly said “no”. They said I should then they began to tell me about the various conspiracy theories they believed in.

And now the weird (for me!) bit. Obviously not weird for the anti-vaxxers here on Broadsheet.

“The Blessed Virgin” told the children in Fatima that God would send the virus to wipe out all of the badness in the world… I said I hadn’t heard that before? They said it was the 3rd secret of Fatima. One of them kindly offered me a prayer card for “Our Lady”. I asked them where did they hear the 3rd secret? They mentioned the internet and some priest that says latin masses in Dublin. They also suggested that I should go to the latin mass. I asked about the badness to be wiped out? They assured me that God liked to wipe out bad people when things get out of hand like now. I mentioned Covid has killed innocent millions, but no they insisted it only kills “foreigners, people living in sin and queers that get married..etc” I soon understood they also meant black and Chinese (chinese because they are communists). I suggests that it is a bit un-Christian of God to wipe out even people they dislike? “God’s will” they said. I asked how did they know it was God’s will?….”Because of the 3rd secret of Fatima”… at that point I suggested they should check their sources mentioning Pope Francis and his humanitarian pro-vaccination stance but apparently he is in God’s bad books too.

    I moved on.

Broadsheet please keep putting up these posts promoting crazy conspiracy theories and anti vaccinations you are doing ordinary normal everyday people a favour as they can personally see just how daft and ridiculous the anti-vaxxers are and will keep ignoring such nonsense.
