Two Gentle Mins Of Verona

at

Last night.

Prime Time on RTÉ One.

Verona Murphy, Independent Wexford TD and President of the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA), raises a sceptical covid tone rarely heard in Montrose to host Miriam O’Callaghan’s visible and audible incredulity.

FIGHT!

I think Primetime is softening to “ze ratlicker cause”

Miriam let Verona talk for ages without interruption last night and Sarah McInerney savaged Donnelly.

    Car crash stuff.

They also had a piece with ominous music about the proposed vax pass. And a restaurant owner pleading with the gov followed by a academic living in Denmark talking about how their system works.

    Good stuff.

Claire Byrne’s gonna have to raise her game to compete ;)

I can see her now, with a mock-up of a restaurant, wait staff included, “tune in at 9:30, where we show you how you have an indoor sit-down meal, if you’re vaccinated”

        Hehehe

With Luke O’Neill serving food in a giant hamster ball, rolling all over the gaff…

      miriam was constantly interupting verona.

wouldve been great craic if verona had have castigated for mindlessly parroting the covid figures without applying context e.g how long people are in ICU, how many cases are asymptomatic etc

Interruptions are part of the training manual in RTE. Wasn’t Miriam at the going-away do in RTE? She is the last person to be interviewing anyone about covid rules / potential rules.

It was hard not to be moved by the plight of some of the small business folk. I think there was a fellow who had a kids – family activity centre called “The Zone”. He was on the verge of tears.

Well spoken, calm and informed. Well done Verona, bet Miriam nearly wet herself with the presentation of actual sensible thoughts for a change.
More of this please from our public representatives.

O’Callaghan’s stance appears to be “but it’s the gub’mint, it must be correct” which is pretty much the opposite of the normal scepticism that’s a requirement for anyone to be a functioning journalist. Then again, journalism isn’t RTE’s strong suit, is it.

Verona’s final thank you at the end had more of a ***k you vibe, in my opinion.

Get a load of this weapon Verona,
And her crazy ass take on the ‘rona
    Her background’s in trucks
And she don’t give two fux
    About Miriam’s schoolmarm persona

Miriam: “Is this not a very dangerous path to go down to say, as an elected representative, you don’t trust NPHET’s figures The Emperor has no clothes?”

  7. Hyper real

Is it any wonder the Govt
And NPHET can do what they want
When the leader of the opposition is some trucker’s missus
I mean seriously – what did ye expect?

Well she’s right because we now know that the adjusted vaccine roll-out proposals were not included in the modelling data even though Micheal Martin said they were. CMO says otherwise.
So yes, we do need this advice reviewed because our incompetent government, can’t get its story straight.
We are now also the ONLY country not ready to to introduce the EU travel cert.
Again this whole delay and intransigence is because of our sub-standard health service and ICU capacity. Nobody seems to want to mention it let alone admit it.
God forbid a journalist might break ranks and write a critical article about it.
