      Wake up to what?

The fact that this virus is never going to fully ‘go away’ and we will need to live with it for a long time to come while trying to reduce the impacts of it as much as possible?

I think we have all been well aware of that for a long time.

The plan from the start was to lockdown as much as possible to limit the deaths and serious illness until the vaccines came along and then figure out how to get back to some form of normality after that, with vaccines being a key part to that.

Sign me up, I don’t watch to catch this awful thing, especially from some of the ‘cannabinoid’ types on here lol

I assumed that – as covid doesn’t appear to be going anywhere fast – we would likely see vaccines/boosters developed and administered in the way the flu jab is promoted every year. This surely makes more sense than shutting down the country for 6-8 months of the year?

    1. Furore2021

People aren’t coerced into taking the flu jab. It’s recommended for the old and vulnerable, which is what we were told this would be used for and then life would return to normal. The can just keeps being kicked down the road, and now vaccinated people won’t be let inside pubs and restaurants. Where does it end? It’s a slippery slope into a totalitarian government and most people are just fast asleep. Wake up Ireland FFS.

        Calm down will you.

The flu jab is recommended for everyone so as to help stop the spread of the flu virus when it is on circulation. The same with the Covid vacinne. It’s not just about stopping you getting the virus.

The restriction on unvaccinated people in pubs and restaurants is a short term measue until enough of the population is vaccinated and the ability of the virus to spread will be extremely reduced.

So, as far ‘where does it end’, well, depends on what you meand by ‘it’ I suppose. This phase of it will end in a few months (possibly a little longer), then we move into a different phase of ‘living’ with it.

No need to ‘wake up’, we already are….we just need to be patient and some of us need to relax!

“ The restriction on unvaccinated people in pubs and restaurants is a short term measue”

You can understand why some people would be concerned that it’s not short term though yeah?

Once laws are introduced, they are very hard to roll back.

          1. Furore2021

That’s the concern. They’re rushed in. They’re never rushed out. Two tier society in full swing. It’ll end up that the “unclean” aren’t allowed into supermarkets etc. And people will still be ok with it. This happened in another country years ago… you may remember. History can repeat itself.

          2. jonsmoke

Even though the proposal is that the amendments to the bill will include the requirement for the restrictions to expire once the population is vaccinated?

So, after some people have calmed down they should do a bit of research around the proposals.

If the restrictions aren’t lifted after the population is vacinnated, then by all means, have a riot and burn down the Dail….I might even join yis!

          3. Micko

“ once the population is vaccinated?”

But some people don’t want the vaccine?

So that goal will never be reached.

          4. Furore2021

Yeah exactly. Some people don’t want it. That used to be a right, to refuse medical treatment. So will this be the point where the army show up at people’s doors to jab them so we can “fully open up”. Seriously, it’s sinister.

        2. jonsmoke

          That’s not how it works.

Even for other diseases we never get 100% vaccinated. For example. with Measles, there needs to be 93% to 95% of the population vaccinated to prevent an outbreak. So, some people will get the disease but they can never infect enough other people for it to get out of control.

It is likely that the won’t be enough ‘reluctants’ or ‘refusers’ to be a problem once all the ‘willing’ are vaccinated. Even if the numbers aren’t high enough to allow for the restrictions to be lifted, there will be education programmes and incentives to get the numbers up and no, it won’t be beatings, midnight calls to your door and extended stays in camps.

          1. Micko

I think education is the issue.

Had a lad I know tell me he got his first jab yesterday. He got it because he wants to travel. And then asked me if I was getting it.

“Nah, sure I had Covid in January” I said to him

“You can get it again” he hastily replied.

            “Anyone can” I said

“Nope, Pfizer is 97% at protection or whatever” he said to me

I didn’t have the heart to tell him how a human immune system works and that a vaccine just stimulates your immune system, same as catching the virus does.

So I just nodded and said “cool.”

Education is needed on both sides of the argument.

“Dr.” Gillian McKeith “PhD” there, or to give her her full academic title, Gillian McKeith.

“We know that double vaccinated, fully vaccinated people are much more likely to get coronavirus”

Is he saying that vaccinated are more likely to be infectious then? That is the logical conclusion surely?

    1. Furore2021

Yep. More people dying of “Covid” in the UK now that are doubly vaccinated. Go figure. Either the vaccines don’t work or they’re giving people the virus…
