“Our nine-year-old son was booed directly into his face by one fan,” she said. “He had the Danish flag painted on his face and wore a Viking hat and a Denmark kit. We had to wipe the colour off his face and cover up his clothes to stop the abuse. I am absolutely gutted with the behaviour of some English fans, especially towards a child.”

“…hopes for glorious repeat of 1966.”

When England won the Euros back then? Smooth brains at it again.

On Thursday UEFA said they will never use this format again as it
was “unfair” to those teams who have had to put in serious air miles to play each game. Teams like Switzerland(9000 air miles), Sweden & Wales have had to complete lengthy flight schedules whilst teams like England have only travelled once (1000 round trip to Rome to play a knackered Ukraine). England may very well win the final this evening. They’ll certainly be fresh. Michel Platini’s bright idea to spread the tournament throughout the continent was an awful idea. Most teams have looked exhausted.

          1. Charlie

How could England “show fatigue”? They hadn’t done any travelling pre Rome. Ukraine has just played 120mins and then travelled to Rome.

UEFA have admitted it was an error on their part. UEFA have never admitted error in organizing and other Europeans events. Charger, you clearly are a fair weather football supporter and only become arrogantly animated when national pride is at stake. Will you be booing the Italian national anthem this evening from your throne in Cork?

          2. scottser

Charger will be down his local chipper tonight, ranting and spitting his batter burger back at the staff.

          Three kittens on his shirt
          John Bull’s boy was dreaming
          The moderators pounced
And his bottkins was a beaming

          All those years of hurt
          Banned from every forum
          Pathetic little squirt
          Lacking all decorum

          He’s been sent off,
          Softened his cough,
          And as a treat
          His team got beat

It’s going to Rome, it’s going to Rome, it’s going to Rome

          A kitten-loving clown
He must have blown a gasket
When the Italians went to town
While he sobbed in his cat basket

It’s going to Rome, it’s going to Rome, it’s going to Rome

I’ve witnessed English fans throughout the world at international football tournaments. The arrogance can be astounding and everything is on the edge. They’re the only fans in this tournament that boo the oppositions national anthem and during the game. Scrotey behavior is in their DNA.

        1. Charlie

No Charger. I’ve witnessed them trash towns and cities in many countries. Even now they’ll boo the opposing teams national anthems before a ball is kicked. No other fans do this. Such a disrespectful bunch of morons.

  3. Charlie

With so many efforts to reappear under a different name just to take a swipe and proclaim his nations greatness, one has to ask oneself ‘Should Broadsheet be concerned about a possible danger in our midst”?

I think the newly elected TD for Dublin Bay South is about to find our what’s living in the water in that part of the bay.. at least it’s always unseasonably warm..

I think it’s gas that FF are rounding on Michael Martin, he might be one of the issues but it’s so much deeper then that. They continue to sell out the citizens to vultures and have steadily destroyed our society over the years. They need a deep ideological shift and if they can’t do that in government then they need to walk… but the issue is, as we all know, they won’t. They are as enthusiastic about free market solutions as FG and that is their main issue, if that’s their ideology then embrace it instead of pretending to be horrified. Stick your values to the mast instead of acting surprised that nobody wants you or blaming it on your leader, if he goes you’re not going to be fixed. It’s so much deeper.

Anyhow viva Italy, I’m getting the crisps, ginger ale, anti-pasta, olives and jellies in for later. Can’t wait!

-it’s impossible calculate or tabulate the amount irish state money wasted on Dennis O’Brien,as journalists get murdered in cold blood in his back garden, yet he still receives millions in Irish Aid for his Front Line Defenders, who’s objective is….

-Front Line Defenders was founded in Dublin in 2001 with the specific aim of protecting human rights defenders at risk (HRDs), people who work, non-violently, for any or all of the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Front Line Defenders addresses the protection needs identified by HRDs themselves.-say like journalists!

    https://www.frontlinedefenders.org/en/who-we-are

Just this past April 10,000,000 in irish state aid incl,Front Line yes,it’s is him again-breakdown of that number does not appear to be available!

-The other organisations in receipt of this Programme Grant funding are: Trócaire, Self Help Africa, Christian Aid Ireland, Oxfam Ireland, Sightsavers Ireland, World Vision Ireland, Plan Ireland, Action Aid Ireland, Helpage, Children in Crossfire, Frontline Defenders and Vita.-

So FFG on behalf the irish state still gives millions to Dennis O’Briens to defend journalists against this,is there any point to O’Brien at all.Haiti is worse, yes worse since he landed and he has just ripped off the poorest people on the plant, with the assistance of FFG,who continue back his various charity fronts, but, but just won’t reveal by how much.

-At about 11 p.m. on June 29, 2021, unidentified men riding a motorcycle shot and killed Haitian journalist Diego Charles at the entrance of his home in the Christ-Roi area in Port-au-Prince, the capital, and fled the scene, according to news reports and Jacques Desrosiers, secretary-general of the Association of Haitian Journalists-

    https://cpj.org/data/people/diego-charles/

He is a stain on Ireland.

    1. Johnny

      Rest In Peace Diego.

      https://www.gov.ie/en/press-release/249d7-minister-brophy-announces-irish-aid-funding-of-10700000-for-goal/

Ireland is very generous,10 million alone in April this year, but yet helpless in Haiti,DOB has throw so much shade that they are begging, literally begging the US this morning to invade, with armed troops to run the kip, nice work Dennis.

-Denis O’Brien is chairman and co-founder of Front Line Defenders, which he helped establish in 2001 to meet the immediate security and protection needs of human rights defenders at risk around the world. From its start in Ireland, Front Line Defenders now employs 50 staff with offices in Dublin..-

What about Haiti Dennis,,where DOB like a modern day colonialist has extracted pretty much everything these poor people have, just to pay his debts. The FFG govt continues to support this sham, the country has finally descended into anarchy,is the irish media just going let O’Brien walk away again ?

      https://www.frontlinedefenders.org/en/profile/denis-obrien

‘….is the irish media just going let O’Brien walk away again ?’

Of course. It’s a bought and paid-for media. Can’t be upsetting the apple cart.

Lol. I’d have thought a normal Sunday. Broadsheet would not be Broadsheet without the crazy comment section – a literal rollercoaster ride of testiness and polemics.

McGregor is a pox on all of us…a comment on one major aspect of what is wrong in the world today….but I’m not too sure even he deserved that

Professor Sucharit Bhakdi is a Thai-German specialist in microbiology, having studied at the universities of Bonn, Giesen, Mainz, and Copenhagen. He also studied at the Max Planck Institute Of Immunobiology And Epigenetics in Freiburg, and is a professor emeritus of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and from 1991 to 2012 was head of the Institute Of Medical Microbiology And Hygiene. In summary, he is a well-respected heavy weight academic.

His latest video has been removed from U Tub within 12 hours for the usual violations- so is worth a look. He is calling for immediate halt to all vaccinations. Interesting that I cannot see any ‘fact checks’ against what he is saying and there appears to be no hatchet jobs against his reputation either.

“…Interesting that I cannot see any ‘fact checks’ against what he is saying and there appears to be no hatchet jobs against his reputation either.”

You can’t have looked very hard:

“…Bhakdi’s claims, in particular in his YouTube videos and in the book Corona Fehlalarm?, have been extensively fact-checked and found to be variously unsubstantiated, misleading, or false…”

“…Writing for Foreign Policy, Tyson Barker (Head of DGAP’s Technology & Global Affairs Program) described Bhakdi as a prominent example from a “crop of debunked but credentialed so-called experts minting conspiracy theories and undermining fact-based information”…”

      Lots of sources here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucharit_Bhakdi

      1. SOQ

All of those ‘fact checks’ are not from fellow academics, in other words, from media.

There is no doubt he has been an outspoken critic of the whole pandemic response, as have many others. He’s against masks and lockdowns and now vaccines, but by any standard he’s still an academic heavy weight.

        1. General Public

Tyson Barker negative fact checks should come as a badge of honour.. Reverse ferret..

          1. General Public

            Yawn..

            Cancel cancel cancel..

            Nothing knew there in fairness..

            Another badge of honour

    2. Bitnboxy

“What Wodarg and Bhakdi say is not completely wrong, but they mix facts with speculation and disinformation.”

      Preach.

      1. SOQ

Not completely wrong means at least somewhat right. Neither of us have a background to judge.

What interests me is that the official narrative claims a united medical and scientific front, when in fact that is far from the case. Is he right about the vaccines?

        I hope not.

        1. Papi

“Not completely wrong means at least somewhat right. ”

Are you serious? Beyond hilarious now.

          1. SOQ

You know what’s hilarious? Rude ignoramus who have no clue what they are talking about. Not one of you even bothered to listen to what the man has to say before rushing in to bitch and snipe.

            Says it all really.

          2. General Public

            “Beyond hilarious now..”

Coming from the lad whose afraid to share his own opinions but takes pleasure in knocking others..

            Hilarious indeed..

        2. Bitnboxy

I don’t think anyone has all the answers no matter how much they claim otherwise, not to mention the heavy presence of those sensing a fast buck to be made from what is an unprecedented situation along with an agenda that is decidedly not one seeking rigourous scientific probity.

          1. SOQ

Yes I agree- I read somewhere recently than when you mix science and politics, you get politics.

As I understand it, what Sucharit is saying is that there is evidence the SARS-CoV-2 is not novel and that it is close enough to other coronaviruses that the body recognises it.

By inference that means a lot of people already have immunity. And, that the immune system mistakes the spike proteins of vaccines as bacteria, and then attacks them.

He is challenging his peers to a debate by throwing the hypothesis out there- because that is how science works.

He certainly does not deserve to be banned from YouTube because some spotty tech ejit doesn’t understand what he is talking about.

  9. Fearganainm

It’s just another ‘Woo merchant presented as being free from criticism turns out to have a track record of purveying woo’ story, for me.

    1. General Public

      Who?

      Tyson Barker.. Lol

Hate to break it to you but Tyson Barker is a globalist stooge who plays rentagob for pharma front John Hopkins..

      FAIL

  10. Fearganainm

“Oh, won’t you buy my woo?”

Nope. I’ll leave that to the terminally gullible and in the meantime Sucharit Bhakdi can polish up Das Goldene Brett vorm Kopf (2020).

    1. General Public

“Oh won’t you buy my woo..”

No no, I get mine from wookipedia, the bible of truth…

What’s the backstory on that joy rider kid ? Why all the positive spin, two kids from Tallaght crashing a car at 1am would be crucified for the same offense.

Regardless of who wins, Ingurlund fans have already gone feral and tonight is not going to be pretty around London.

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/cabinet-to-sign-off-on-reopening-plans-for-indoor-hospitality-tomorrow-40640666.html

These plans will see the EU Digital Covid Cert (DCC) be used as a ‘vaccine pass’ to allow people who are vaccinated and those who have recovered from Covid-19 avail of indoor dining and drinking in restaurants and pubs.

Nope- EU Digital Covid Cert (DCC) also allows for a recent negative test. Not later- NOW- otherwise it is not a EU Digital Covid Cert- who is advising these people?

Also- what does recovered from Covid-19 actually mean? A PCR test only indicates you were infected with SARS-CoV-2 sometime in the past six months- at best.

    1. Bitnboxy

I agree – it should incorporate a recent negative test. That was also my understanding.

  13. Mé Féin

I follow Broadsheet from America and really have no interest in those English rags. can’t you put them on a page 2 somewhere?

    1. Mé Féin

I’m not outraged, more disgusted. Kind of like walking on a dog poo and seeing my shoe.

  14. Daisy Chainsaw

    London is doomed.

I looked forward to England going out on penos in the quarters, or semi final… but losing on penalties (as is the tradition) in the final? Chef’s kiss!!

    1. Fearganainm

Careful planning by the Ingurland manager, the two late substitutes he brought on both missed.

      1. goldenbrown

well spotted, it was a really really bad decision very surprised he did it

2 players that barely played in whole competition nevermind the match itself

whatever though, the best team won by miles and against every advantage Engerland were afforded in the tournament

delighted for those lovely English fans too, top class result, we won’t be hearing much from Boris either tbtf

  15. Daisy Chainsaw

Meanwhile, Twitter is full of messages from people offering safe houses and transport to people living under the threat of domestic violence tonight. It’s going to be a long, scary night for a lot of families. Violence rises by 35% when
England lose and 26% when they win.

    1. f_lawless

On the subject of raising awareness of domestic violence, no doubt you’ll join in the calls to hold the government to account for their continued use of lockdowns as conventional policy when no real risk to benefit assessment was ever carried out prior to adopting it and no formal review carried out of its success to date. Now that there’s so much empirical evidence available and so many published scientific papers concluding that lockdowns have been ineffective, the measure should be permanently discredited as a viable public health policy.

It was clear from early on that domestic violence was set to go through the roof as lockdowns continued yet commenters such as yourself derided those taking an anti-lockdown stance with “muh fredumbs!” putdowns. Time for some consistency..
