Like most who contract the virus, he’ll be fine.
Formerly known as @ireland.com
He is vaccinated. It is good to hear that “most” will be fine. I suppose it is only a small number that get long Covid or die, so that is fine. Just as well the hospitals have infinite capacity.
E'Matty
Yeah, the overwhelming majority who contract the virus are fine. In fact, most who contract won’t even have any symptoms so without the test would not even know they had it. The vulnerable are now vaccinated so only the young are at risk and as we already know, this virus poses much less threat to a young person than the annual flu (Covid is only a threat greater than flu for over 55s and those with serious underlying conditions, who are now all vaccinated). Deaths should be negligible if any at all.
This virus was never that dangerous to begin with. The threat is poses has been deliberately grotesquely exaggerated, as have deaths attributed to the virus. It poses even less threat now, yet the Branch Covidians continue to act like we’re dealing with the Plague. Long Covid in the young is now being rolled out, as we see here from a classic Covidian, as something we need to keep all of society in perpetual fear of.
If in 2019 someone would say that society would be subject to restrictions to stop some young people potentially ending up with fatigue and brain fog (ill defined, difficult to measure, and present in those who never had Covid in similar percentages) they’d rightly have been laughed at. Here we are 18 months into this mass hysteria, and this commenter genuinely seems to believe that their argument is logical and reasoned.

There were half a million excess deaths in the USA in 2020 (from an expected 3 million).
So, yes, it is that dangerous.
SOQ
Because of scale, the US, like China and Russia, are too difficult to gauge but if you look at smaller countries on Eurumomo, you will see that in there is a direct correlation between a mild season in 2019 and a spike in 2020. Inversely, if there was average or above overall deaths in 2019, there was no change for 2020.

More than 1200 scientists have now backed a letter in the journal The Lancet saying that the UK’s plan to lift most coronavirus restrictions in England on 19 July is an “unethical experiment”, which poses a serious threat to the rest of the world. The letter argues that lifting restrictions at a time when infection rates are rising could increase the chance of new vaccine-resistant coronavirus variants emerging. “Because of our position as a global travel hub, any variant that becomes dominant in the UK will likely spread to the rest of the globe,” Christina Pagel at University College London said during an emergency summit of scientists and doctors on 16 July
Their “death within 28-day” is currently showing 128,683 deaths; their “Deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate” is 152,856

One thing that has become very apparent in the Covid era is that scientists can and will be persuaded/coerced to put their names to any piece of politicised pseudo-science no matter how egregious.
Remember back in Feb 2020 when the Lancet published a highly influential letter signed by a group of scientific experts which denounced any suggestion that virus could have originated in as “conspiracy theory”?
A year and a half down the line we’ve now come full circle to the point at which a figure like Jamie Metzl, who sits on the WHO’s advisory committee on human genome editing can say: “‘The Lancet letter was scientific propaganda and a form of thuggery and intimidation. By labelling anyone with different views a conspiracy theorist, the Lancet letter was the worst form of bullying in full contravention of the scientific method.”

Two doses of the vaccine with 3 weeks for the antibodies to build up after the 2nd dose still seem to be highly effective in preventing hospitalization and serious disease

It’s not the fully vaccinated that will suffer, you will see a concurrent rise in the unvaccinated having a higher morbidity rate along with long covid.
Of course long covid is a serious issue as the UK is discovering and I will never agree that Covid is nothing if not a very serious life threatening disease
In the UK stats are showing one in 20 people are likely to suffer from COVID-19 symptoms lasting more than 8 weeks.
