Israel is now banning “unvaccinated” from outside activities, even a whole street. This is the start of a “vaccinated lockdowns” – by no legal authority.

Ah.

Poor old Australia.A year of being smug and now they’re in the dunny just like everyone else.
Indeed- this was entirely predictable. Those who were saying ‘look at Australia’ were ignoring the fact that it is a seasonal virus and Australia is now in its winter season.
The authorities have lost the run of themselves of course- the damage they are doing to their international reputation will take decades to repair.
Are you still pushing the “its a seasonal virus” line despite all the evidence that shows it isn’t seasonal?
What evidence?
There is another wave in the UK and it is summer.
There is another wave in Spain and it is summer.
There is another wave in Portugal and it is summer.
There is another wave in the US and it is summer.
Unless I misunderstood, and you mean that there will be a 4 wave per your – one each season
Flu is seasonal but that does not mean there is no flu cases off season. There is minor hospital and fatality spikes in all three which is to be expected after opening up.
https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/united-kingdom
https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/spain
https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/portugal
The US is completely different because the seasonal element changes depending on where within the country you are.
haha.
The only part of the US that has different seasons in Hawaii.
US is pretty much split between northern and western hemispheres which have their own viral replication patterns. North follows the Gompertz curve while others tend to be less of a peak.
It’s still seasonal, or at least predictable.
The continental US all has the same flu season.
And it is the same as ours – it hit between Novermber-April; the peak can be any time from late December to early March;
Covid is not seasonal in the way influenza is.
the other thing very few seem to be talking much about is that the Israelis are already into booster shots?! (as in people who’ve had their 2x shots)
crazy times

One of the highest vaccination rates in the world and yet, hospitalisations and fatalities are rising again.

proper order. that’s what we should’ve done here. as well as close out foreign travel. then not let anyone in without a negative test. we had one of the most perfect set-ups to nip this in the bud from the shtart. but a far from perfect Gov. do implement it.
Yeah we should have been like China.
hate to break it to you but we can’t eradicate a virus, neither can we live cut off from the world indefinitely, nothing about all of this is sustainable at least not in the way you’d want your children to live.
+ 1 squllion zillion gazillion
Exhibit A: Smallpox.
Apples and Oranges
Smallpox killed about a third of the people it infected.
What’s Covid’s CFR or IFR?
Yeah
Is smallpox a virus?
Did we eradicate smallpox?
It’s not comparable and you know it.
https://ftp.historyofvaccines.org/index.php/content/articles/disease-eradication
COVID is about as infectious as chicken pox – its not going away
This seems more like a breakdown in authority and control and trust than something that should be celebrated or emulated.
a bridge too far Nig
Honestly if the pandemic were handled properly from the start in almost any country life would have gotten easier faster – be bloody prepared,
Peru had the harshest lockdown in the world.
Peru has the highest number of fatalities in the world.
Join the dots.
You think there are only two dots?
Ireland had one of the harshest lockdowns in Europe.
Ireland has one of the lowest excess deaths in Europe.
Tried posting this earlier but it has disappeared. According to worldometers, Ireland sits 56 out of 222 countries with a 1007 per million figure. That is not low, it is not even half way.
I said excess deaths. no “so called” Covid deaths.
Yes well comparing Ireland and Sweden for year 2020 Z-scores by country- there doesn’t appear to be a huge difference in it.
https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps
But the core question remains- if this lockdown nonsense was necessary, shouldn’t Sweden, like Florida and Texas, not be top of all death leagues?
“we had one of the most perfect set-ups”
We have a land border with another country that 60,000 people a day cross. Its legally and practically un-closeable. We could have had 0 flights and 0 ships arriving into Ireland a day, forever, and corona would still have gotten in through Northern Ireland very very quickly.
+a global pandemic requires a unified global response. This could have been contained.
A unified global response? For the first time in the entirety of human history? Good luck with that.
How exactly would you propose isolationist states like North Korea’s covid response be brought in line with the rest of the world? Or dysfunctional states in Africa with no functional government, like the Congo? Or even just contrarian states like Donald Trump’s America?
Enough countries already co-operate internationally to have made a difference without the obvious dysfunctional states. The propensity to defer to the US for leadership, and the fact that the US was led by Trump, made it a non-starter, yeah.
So you’ve gone from “this could have been contained” to “it [was] a non-starter to contain it”?
It was a big ‘if.’
oh.. Robert W. Malone
“Robert Wallace Malone is an American virologist and immunologist criticized for promoting misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_W._Malone
Tell us dav, who created mrna vaccines?
In the early 1990s, he [Robert Malone] collaborated with Jon A. Wolff, Dennis A. Carson, and others on a study that first suggested the possibility of synthesizing mRNA in a laboratory to trigger the production of a desired protein.[4] Malone claims[5] to be the inventor of mRNA technology, though, credit for the distinction is more often given to later advancements by Katalin Karikó or Derrick Rossi.[2][6][7]
Like most things, it’s probably a mix of lies and truths.
Did Robert Malone (and others) figure out a way of introducing RNA into humans – Yes
https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/86/16/6077.full.pdf – From 1989
Is he cashing in on the whole anti Covid vaccine thing – Yup probably.
I find it best to go into your Google search tools settings and set it to look for articles and webpages BEFORE March 2020.
Using the Waybackmachine to search through websites to see what they looked like before March 2020 is also good.
There’s too much misinformation on every side of this debate, so the best way is to generally ignore everything after this mess started and make a decision for yourself.
In what way do you think he is cashing in on the anti vaccine thing Mick?
Literally because everyone says he is.
To be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever looked into him. Hence my “Yup, probably” ;)
I was being more flippant as I don’t know either way.
So I have no opinion on him, but 2 mins restricting my Google search to pre covid results, was able to show he DID do what he said.
Claire Byrne must be wetting herself
Yes- lets send her to Sweden to do a show.
People need to do better research on Sweden. They’ve admitted undercounting covid deaths in 2020 and the virus decimated care homes there, far worse than Ireland.
They have a lag with updating deaths too. When they report a daily death figure it’s never taken as gospel as it usually gets updated a few weeks later. That’s normal in Sweden.
Sweden have also had restrictions.
What evidence is there that the virus decimated care homes there far worse than Ireland?
Ireland’s excess deaths for 2020 was about 0;
Sweden’s excess deaths for 2020 was about 5%;
They are still lower than most European countries?
It’s been well documented. The Swedish government eventually appointed a commission to investigate and make recommendations on the shortcomings which included staff shortages, excessive casual workers with little to no training, inadequate PPE and no hygiene training for staff, to name but a few. At one point 1 in 5 residents had not been consulted and 40% hadn’t even been seen by a nurse
And what has Ireland done eh?
Overcount deaths for one.
can you imagine the Irish army trying to keep you in your gaff
