Such a monumental waste of money.

What was the number again – something like 3k trees could have been bought and planted for the price of those 3 robo trees?

Paid for from a €55m National Transport Authority, so basically, we don’t want trees as it takes space from cars, here’s some cash to buy some tech shite to placate people

my instant thought is there’s bound to be some Nepotism angle here
someone is getting major money for this
    like evoting machines
    farcical nonsense

‘lads i have a deadly idea – electric trees, only 50 large a pop’
‘who in their right mind would buy an electric tree when you can plant a shed load of real trees?’
      ‘the irish’
      ‘genius’

soooook outdoor air filters ? Peak ridiculous, pretty sure real trees do that better

Not defending this, but no, these filter fine particulates, analog trees don’t do that. Analog!

Like the new ‘retro’ pay phones going up on Dublin’s streets?

Public Opinion: We don’t need street clutter or unused phone boxes as everyone has mobiles.

Dublin city authorities: Never mind, have a phone booth with a monochrome union jack, embossed crown symbol – and ADVERTISING.

      Cui bono?

    What? Seriously though, what?

Is this a joke? A REAL tree is FREE, does not require a plug and its, well, lovely.

    The Streaming Trees?

Stupid waste of money. Incentives to leave the car at home and a joined up plan for the reforestation of this sparsely populated island more like it.

I was under the impression that they’d be electrostatic precipitators, which would reef just about any kind of particle you’d like out of the air with a swift and brutal efficiency (98.8% at PM1), but they’re not. They’re big boxes full of moss. Along with a suite of sensors and systems to make sure the moss is OK. It’s 70 grand a pop for a big box full of moss. 30% efficiency at PM1.
