Sunetra Gupta thinks that lockdowns in New Zealand may actually work because they generally have a very low rates of respiratory illnesses.
And that of course is something most people never factor in to their arguments- that each country should first and foremost be compared against its own history, rather than current rates in others.
Must remember that next time you say Israel proves vaccines don’t work.

How can you compare vaccine history when there is none Nigel? That’s the whole point- there is no long term safety data on these vaccines?

In fact, given that these injections are an intra-muscular infusion of an active substance that needs to act on Ribosomes inside specific cells which are Permissive & Susceptible (Virology terms) to Coronaviruses, the chances of them doing anything other than making you ill and/or Infertile seems far-fetched.

@SOQ – NZ has lots of indigenous Maori, who may be more vulnerable. A lot of people are obese, which would make them vulnerable. NZ’s best weapon is its isolation. Stopping the virus in its tracks is the best option.

@Cavan – Mate, Do I have to tell you how an island works? Do I have to tell you how quarantine works. Melbourne had 700 cases a day, last year. It got them down to ZERO. We had a great summer with few restrictions. NZ has had bugger all deaths – 26 out of 5 million. Now, who is the fool? Quit while you are losing.
IN case you don’t know Formerly- Australia has another six months of this ‘whack the mole’ to go and even then, there will be no herd immunity come next season.
@SOQ – I know Oz isn’t going great – the NSW state govt. stuffed up. They decided to prefer the economy over people. How has that worked out for them? They have 633 new cases yesterday and expecting over 2,000 a day in September. Victoria, where I am, is at 24 per day. We have put in a proper lockdown. It is going to be hard to keep it from leaking in from NSW, repeatedly.
NZ has a single government and can beat it.
Herd immunity from vaccines is possible. Only idiots would think that getting it from covid cases would be a good idea.
