    Lol.

    I basically read:

    ‘A chara … …
Britain wants to forget their past atrocities, we can’t let them …
We should forget about the whiff of cordite and judge Sinn Féin on what they do next in power’

We must hold Britain to higher morals, but Sinn Féin must be judged on their mandate going forward.

    Gotcha.

Not a major fan of O’Toole’s, but he doesn’t particularly leave any parties off in examining their moral fortitude, be it the emergent contempt of the poor in their economic policies or otherwise.

“whiff of cordite” love that one!
It’s up there with “the mask slips” & “sinister fringe” and of course the greatest hit “they haven’t gone away you know”.
      There’s a whiff alright. Gotcha.

The biggest stink of course is from their money tree economic policies.

But yes, the IRA were terrorists, and ran a terror campaign.
The British Army used heavy handed tactics against civilians and crimes were committed.

Neither side gets to hide behind the term conflict, and even if they could, then some of these ‘good republicans’ should be in the Hague for war crimes.

You can scorn the opinions of people who remember ‘the troubles’ all you like, but it’ll take more than a few promises about de homeless (while objecting to planning applications, of course) to sway me over to Sinn Féin.

Naturally Frank though, you don’t address any of the points and just deflect based on my choice of term.

        1. Frank

Very good, I forgot that one “money tree economic policies”. A humdinger.
I’m highlighting your very ‘particular’ language and terminology with respect Sinn Fein and your agenda.
I haven’t read the Irish Times piece, it’s behind the paywall. So I’ll not address any ‘points’ parsed by your biased opinion writ large in your telling terminology.

          1. Nigel

Apparently saying that you are highlighting someone’s language, terminology and agenda, a process which requires nothing more than the use of quotation marks, you have said something worth saying. I wonder what it was.

          2. Ronan

            I don’t have an agenda,

I commented on a letter to an editor, to point out a double standard and the use of whattabouttery.

You have no points, and now you’re saying “I haven’t read the article so I can’t comment”. You’ve read my points, and the letter to the editor above, be brave and comment based on that, instead of getting upset because someone said something you didn’t like about your favourite party.

          3. Nigel

Well I think your language and terminology indicate a distinct bias and agenda against me, Frank, therefore you too are dismissed with non-substantive posturing.

Like V aka Frilly Keane who disappeared for a few weeks there in the Summer?

I was the ONLY one raising the alarm, well maybe me and Bertie…

      1. V aka Frilly Keane

        I didn’t disappear
My Twitter is open house, and it all there for everyone to see what I’m at, you just have to click on the aka etc there above
And it brings you exactly to where I am

        Same with the GAA forums
        Likewise my firm

        I’m very visible
        And I don’t hide
I’m not glued to this gaff
I’ll come and go as I please
I don’t post on every thread – never have
And the content here over the last 12 months doesn’t interest me

And it was Broadsheet that decided they didn’t want my columns any more
And it’s Broadsheet that continue to enable and host this harassment from you and your goons

Yeah I have seen the stuff that gets posted in the dark hours
        Some of it anyway
        Before it gets deleted
        Plus the stalker posts
Fortunately people keep me updated in my DMs

Gas all the same, over three years and ye’re all still at it

        Now why is that? Huh?

        1. Slave to the Rhythm

Harassment from me and my goons? What the actual…

I was inquiring into your welfare.. I know you’ve never been able to stay out of this place, for very long, despite throwing countless strops before and threatening to smash your rattler for good this time on your pram sides, as you are inseperable from it generally speaking.

Moreover I missed you about the place to be honest as, while your often deeply patronising and faux illiterate bumpkin schtick doesn’t do it for me, but even then it’s much preferable to this wall-to-wall covid guff… we can at least agree on that.

And I definitely don’t harass or stalk you… never have, either. I barely know who you are, and to be honest, I care less…I don’t mean anything bad by it, it’s just the truth…if you are a decent person you will withdraw that scurrilous and unfounded accusation immediately, as Greta might say, ‘How Dare You!’

          1. V aka Frilly Keane

            Tell you what

You go back to some of your own comments about me
Broadsheet should be able to help you
And stick something about kittens in there

Save you having to apologise retract and all that other stuff

            So yeah
            You first S

          2. Slave to the Rhythm

Did I criticise your writing style at times in the past as well?

I think you might have me mixed up with some other people – but not surprising as you do appear to have knockers…

I don’t really want or expect an apology either – don’t worry, you’re too far out on this limb now, but I was genuine when I said I missed your contributions – can you not take a compliment either?

          3. V aka Frilly Keane

think tis pretty clear I rolled with the cribbing and whinging about my writing
more than any other columnist here
proof of that is sitting here years for all to see

go in as see how EK reacts when one of ye bother to comment something thats not a 5* review

So don’t bother trying that with me lov

Fact is, You have posted stuff here about me that you know is untrue

And you also seem to think you’re anon
            you’re not

and you know, and your butties know
I don’t disappear, and tis impossible for me to disappear anyway
yet you still insist on saying so

            that’s bullying

I have barely posted two doz times here the last 4 months
Sameoh or the Goop have more on a single thread than I have over the whole site since before the summer
yet the moment I plug in you’re on it – and that’s harassment

            well done Broadsheet

          4. Slave to the Rhythm

I don’t know where you got all that from, and I don’t know either who ‘one of ye’ is – who are ye, exactly?

I can assure you I have no affiliation with any other angry mob you’ve antagonised somehow, and I’m not sure what broadsheet has to do with rows you’re having and dragging up from previous posts etc either. Maybe leave them out of it?

Nice to hear you are doing well anyway.

  2. Rosette of Sirius

Jeez, I remember the days when all the rows on BS were Shinners vs. The Blueshirts vs. our very own soldiers of destiny.

Now that we’re almost all all vaxxed, we can confine this chapter of our lives to history and get back to normal.
