.@rtenews The number of deaths linked to Covid-19 has increased by 43 to 5,155, the latest weekly data shows. The date of deaths is not some of these deaths may have occurred some weeks or more ago. The deaths include probable and possible deaths, linked to Covid-19

We knew this would happen, surely? The Data-hub has not been showing details of deaths since the hacking. It has now re-commenced recording deaths so these are the backlog of those not previously announced. If I am right, this would mean there have been 43 deaths in the last 3.5 months or about 12 a month.

Just under 60 people a month are dying with / from Covid in Ireland.

Around 255 deaths since late April according to the HSPC data.

      https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/surveillance/weeklyreportoncovid-19deathsreportedinireland/

In the same period (late April till now) we’ve had 113k confirmed cases of Covid 19 and 255 have died.

That’s about 0.22% of confirmed cases dying. Or about 2 people a day.

Factoring in that more people die (in general) ever single day in Ireland (about 75) regardless of what we do.

The only pandemic now is one of fear.

        @ Micko

The only pandemic now is one of fear.

That has been true for a long time, to put it mildly, and the figures are so confused and confusing, quite apart from their questionable basis, that no-one really knows what to believe.

      @ Fes

No, I am analysing the relevant data, which is shown on the Data-hub i.e. 43 new deaths and 5,155 total deaths (including probable and possible deaths – a very ridiculous way, in my opinion, of describing actual deaths which may probably or possibly be related to Covid).

However, if Micko is right (‘Around 255 deaths since late April according to the HSPC data’) then who knows where the figure of 43 comes from. Cian can probably explain.

      1. Cian

Deaths involving Covid (or any infectious disease) are notified to HPSC.
        HPSC publishes the numbers.

Most Covid deaths are notified in a timely manner and appear within a week of death. However some aren’t notified in a timely manner. These can be months behind.

At a guess there was a glut of older deaths reported this week:

        21/08/2021 5,090 (12 were from this week)
        31/08/2021 5,112 (10 were from this week; 12 older)
        07/09/2021 5,155 (27 were from this week; 16 older)

I don’t know why he mentioned “possible/probable” this has been fixed at 178/96 for months,

‘But it doesn’t make any sense?’

Of course it makes sense, just not in any way that you will accept or that does not feed your conspiracy theories. You’ll watch a three-hour YouTube video telling you why this is evidence of evil economists who are like Hitler perpetrating a plan that is insanely complex and vast, but you won’t go looking for or read a couple of paragraphs that explains what it actually is.

      1. Nigel

I’m typing not speaking, so I don’t sound like anything except the voice in your head. However, to be fair, I’m about as rattled ‘because the narrative is faling apart’ as I am rattled that Trump will release evidence of voter fraud during the 2020 election any day now. This may only confirm in your mind my high state of rattlement, yet oddly enough ‘the narrative’ continues to not fall apart, and Joe Biden remains president of the US.

          1. Nigel

Just the kind of skill at objectively reading people and events I’d expect from the guy who broke down ‘the narrative’ and put Trump back in power.

          2. Nigel

I hear (where did I hear it? Oh yes, from you) that white hat hackers watched the fraud in real time, recorded the evdence and gave it to Trump. Maybe he also has the evidence that the pandemic and/or the vaccine is a crime against humanity? Maybe he’s just not over the target yet.

          3. Nigel

            ‘Prove Bodger wrong Nigel.’

The ‘narrative’ hasn’t fallen apart and Trump isn’t president, the only storms are actual hurricanes driven by climate change, ergo Bodger is wrong.

          4. Nigel

‘The storm is coming,’ MOF. Wow what a brave and precise prediction he’s been making ever since Trump got elected.

        1. Nigel

Is it Christopher Lee as Saruman? Because that’s how I like to imagine Bodger reads my comments. ‘The hour is later than you think, Bodgedalf. Pfizer’s forces are already moving. The Vaxx have left Pharmus Morgul.’

          1. Nigel

Look, I’ve got it trained to just show me the latest trailers and assorted BBC radio dramas, I’m not throwing the algorithm off with whatever edgelord crankery pandemic truthers slobber over.
