Greta is right. you can slag her “blah blah blah” and “how dare you”. But she is right.

What have we done in ireland to fight climate change, very little. i personally started noticing this as a big issue back in 2004 and i try and cut down on waste and save energy. But nothing is being done. nobody cares.

      1. Nigel

You guys spent a thread explaining why covering one eye in a photo meant she’s a Masonic Satanist, she’s not the useful idiot here.

  2. Jonner

all lip service and it will continue that way whilst shareholder profit is the key reason for being in business.

the airport has a couple of good examples

daa goes on about being carbon neutral but does not factor in any flight movements because that’s the airlines carbon – stupid way of looking at it but looks good in the annual report.

daa says it has a sustainability ethos, while they currently have a consultancy part of the business supporting construction of a new airport and holiday destination in the middle of the african desert. one of the least sustainable projects in recent history. if it generates cash, sustainability goes on the long finger.

then again, would we be happy if they capped capacity and future growth to something genuinely sustainable? I doubt it!

Most people don’t actually want the plent to burn up or fall apart in climate chaos, so most people tend to support environmentally friendly policies, so if you want to overcome the planetary-suicide-by-profit motive, you have to vote in people who will enact those policies.

      1. chris

The policy’s will be enacted, this is just political theater to get the rubes such as yourself to imagine that there’s some ideological battle at hand.

Vote in people? Lol, bless, as if politicians have anything to do with decision making at this point. It’s finance and their masters that decide everything.

Really, it’s fatiguing having to spell it out to the willingly naive.

        1. Nigel

It’s more of a plan than you have to defeat the mighty Satanic Masons who are all-powerful but yet somehow need to enact elaborate theatrical conspiracies to get their way, which they will get anyway, beause they’re all powerful? And you call me naive?

          1. chris

Stripping away rights and enacting change requires consent. Which people will willingly give if they’re in a state of fear and take their advice from an 18 year old uneducated potato.

I’ve already thrown you a bone as to an understanding of the machinations of the world in another thread. Carrol Quigley, a professor (that tutored Bill Clinton) wrote a book in the sixties documenting the USA/Anglo axis. He’s an apologetic for them.

It’s a hefty dry tome 1100 pages but you can get a decent synopsis on YT – search Jay Dyer ‘Tragedy and Hope’. Its in 6 parts as far as I remember but for an understanding of power and it’s structures, it’s probably the best eye opener I’ve ever encountered.

          2. chris

Forget the Masons, watch those episodes. Honestly, trying to discuss politics with someone that doesn’t understand the fundamentals is akin to having a conversation about astronomy with someone who only has Starwars as their reference. Impossible.

Confidence & ignorance = hubris. Be warned.

          3. chris

I have but you’re too ignorant to comprehend, circular logic is the stuff of bores and you are the poster boy!

          4. Nigel

Sorry, funneling criticism off structural inequality into your conspiracy fantasies doesn’t really count as the frame of reference is entirely contingent and endlessly apatable.

      1. SOQ

You think it is just coincidence that spoilt brat is all over the media again? She’s not even a likeable child.

          1. chris

The climate is always in a state of flux. The ‘science’ surrounding ‘climate change’ is built on a foundation of lies. You fell for propaganda.

          2. Clampers Outside

Someone will be along now to quote X,000 “scientists” of the IPCC say so.

“Scientists” haha! Look into that it’s an eye-opener.
Hell, look into the IPCC itself, another eye-opener.

And, no. You don’t need to be find of conspiracies to find the fudging of ‘science’ that goes on there.

Climate change is real. The propaganda, that’s another story altogether.

          3. Nigel

‘The climate is always in a state of flux.’

Another one who does not know what he’s talking about. Amazing the people who confidently dismiss the science behind climate change who don’t even know what climate change actually is.

          4. Clampers Outside

Like yourself then, and your dismissal of science for ideology.

He is right with regard to much of what is touted. Even ex and current IPCC (actual) climate scientists are on record for saying so. Some have even written books in it.
Hell, one well known scare was that All the bees are dieing. It’s bullpoo catastrophising like that that helps fuel lack of change by giving the complete deniers greater legitimacy.

          5. Clampers Outside

There is no science to it, just stick a finger in and rummage away.

Now that’s out of the way, you can back to your science denial, and trumping ideology over science.
It’s how you roll, and boy do you roll in it :)

          6. Tighe’s Cylon

So Clampers…do you flick the snot off your finger when you’re rummaged enough or so do you recycle?

I figure you for a recycler (snot-nibbler) personally.

          7. Clampers Outside

Lol! I’m a flicker, especially when outside. Otherwise it’s panic over having to get out of my seat to find a bin! No fireplace in this house, dang it!

        1. Papi

Protect the children!! Child abuse!!!! Heads will roll!!
          (Except that little bitch)
          SOQ & E’M(P)ATTY
And you wonder why you’re thought of as cranks?

          1. E'Matty

Lol, you’re the cranks whining on about climate change and Covid. We’re calling BS on both. We’re the anti cranks.

          2. SOQ

I tend not to like children who sail about in very expensive boats and appear to have the attention of the world’s media for no other reason other than the fact they exist.

Especially at a time when so many people are about to go bankrupt from a hyped up endemic which is no more than a flu.

        2. Nigel

It’s almost as if lockdown is lofting after a global pandemic, allowing public activism to ramp up once more.

          1. chris

I know very well what ‘climate change’ purports to be, I’m not gullible enough to fall for the propaganda however. Scientific Method vs Scientism™. As ever, you are on the wrong side of the fence.

          2. Nigel

Someone who says ‘The climate is always in a state of flux’ as a counter-argument (being generous) to the science of climate change does not know what climate change is. See also ‘we need carbon to live’ and ‘sun cycles.’

          3. Clampers Outside

Are you denying, again, the influence of the sun on the earths climate….

            Sure looks like it.

            Oh my.

          4. Nigel

Are you thick enough to think I’m denying the influence of the sun on the Earth’s climate? Sure looks like it. Oh my.

          5. Clampers Outside

You’ve done it on here before, then back tracked when called on it. So I’d say you just slipped up again. Probably hard to shake that nonsense off when you’ve so much science denial ism going on elsewhere. Good to see you back on track for this topic at least. Keep it up!

          6. Nigel

No you’ve just made exactly the same dumb mistake before because you have a hard time grasping concepts. And words.

        3. Truther

How dare she not be likeable… btw you’re thoroughly dislikeable yourself
          Go on…. report me…
          I dare you!

      1. Papi

Eh, Jibber jabber is your thing now, you have taken the mantle, Queenie.
The phrase “if you can’t see the mark, that means it’s you” spring to mind

  3. hmmm

Varadkar stood up in the Dail and blamed the wind not blowing enough for the forthcoming energy crisis…

Tells you everything you need to know about this Climate Change Clown Show.

    1. Steph Pinker

Seeing as Varadkar blows so much up the AGs rear end – that same senior civil *servant*, who also moonlights as a barrister, it might keep Inisowen in lights for an eternity.

      1. Steph Pinker

… or at least The Blasket Islands. They’re supposed to serve the people of Ireland after all, not themselves – aren’t they?
