Here’s How

The current affairs podcast presented by William Campbell (right) goes country.

William writes:

Is there something wrong with rural Ireland? Is there a common reason for its various social and economic and social problems? And if so, is there someone to blame, or even something we could fix? The Here’s How podcast talks to an academic expert on rural affairs, UCD’s Dr Karen Keaveney (above).

Thanks for another episode William. And while it was never going to top the last exposé, its just great to hear an interview that doesn’t feel like we’re hearing opinions that have been bought and paid for. Many times you can tell what their opinion on a topic will be by their job title, and that said persons opinion needs to stay that way if they want to keep their job.

Re the dodgy stats from our esteemed betters in 3rd level, its sad that this isn’t some localised issue. The fake rape crisis on campus is rife across the Anglosphere and has cumulated in kangaroo courts, false allegations without fear of reprisal and basically men been thrown even further under the bus than our societies care to think about (because they are just men). If that all sounds like I’m a bit mad, well then I implore you all to look into into, I’ve been paying attention and its a sad state of affairs indeed.

Finally on the subject of all those male only fatal car collisions down the country – no mention of vehicular suicide was brought up. Another taboo, because men are taught early on they are expendable, and not to bother seeking help, because they wont get it (govt funding for male issues? Notachance), and no one is interested in helping them anyway. But the RSA will happily include their deaths as “he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt/driving drunk” to get more funding.

Rural Ireland is having the jitters in places, but don’t worry, UCD researchers are coming to the rescue. William Campbell expresses Doubts.
