Ask A Broadsheet Reader

Reader Jono writes:

Can Broadsheet do a poll asking people who are double vaccinated how many more bi-annual vaccines they are willing to take?

It would be useful to gauge how long this will continue.

Over 90% are not against Covid passes so the number willing to take multiple doses may be quite high.

It would be good to know.

OK then…

Q. If you are double vaccinated, how many more vaccines are you willing to take?

a) I’m done.

b) One more poke.

c) Keep jabbing.

d) Mind your own bees knees.

Governments own figures are saying that a third of pubs and restaurants are not checking- so where has that 90% figure has been plucked from?

If 90% are so in favour of this segregation, then why is there a need for it to be mandatory?

    1. Tom J

The figures you speak of were reported by people who weren’t asked for their Covid pass. Not a government survey.

      1. SOQ

We are both half right- a straw poll then.

“the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has revealed the percentage of people not having Covid certificates checked in pubs has shot up from 21% in early October to 37%.”

How those people were selected is another story. Should it not be Fáilte Ireland making such public comments?

It’s yet another sneaky way to present stats. Leaves the reader thinking 37% of places are not checking passes when the government’s own inspections found very high (96% I think) compliance. By asking people about the last month, it includes every place one visits in a month which could be dozens. Just one failure to check goes down as a tick for this survey. It’s pretty typical of how official Ireland has consistently used framing and deceptively presented statistics to dupe the Irish people into believing whatever narrative is being presented to them this week.

There is a problem with ESRI poll if they just asked people if they are having their cert checked. They needed to ask 3 questions:

1 are you being asked to show the cert
2 are they scanning the cert
3 are they checking your ID.

63% might be doing 1 but checking the cert properly involves all 3 and the % doing that is close to zero in my experience.

I doubt you’d learn much on this website ‘Reader Jono’! You’d be better off maybe conducting that poll inside your own head. Sure maybe you’ve even done that already ye scamp!

    1. K. Cavan

There’s an anti-vaccine website now? Which vaccines does it campaign against?
What we really need is a website that’s against experimental gene therapies being tested on children.
You see, george, it doesn’t matter how often you point at a cow & say “horse!” it’s still a cow.

          1. GiggidyGoo

You mentioned Specsavers in answer to K Cavan when he asked if there’s an anti vaccine website. So, do they test your eyes, test your hearing, and promote anti-vaccine agendas then?

      1. Micko

I’m getting my Flu jab in a few days.

I think you’ll find it’s fairly specific the vaccines people are worried about George.

And if Covaxin or NovaVax make it over here for Covid, I’ll consider them.

        1. george

Micko, you don’t run this website. The person who does is against the covid-19 vaccines referred to in the post.

      2. george

The editorial stance of this website is against the Covid-19 vaccines which I’m sure Bodger will be happy to confirm.

          1. George

You run the site and post the vast majority of the content and almost all of the Covid-19 related content. I think what I wrote is factual and fair. It is not a criticism.

          2. SOQ

george said “There’s no point asking on an anti-vaccine website.”

I don’t remember any other vaccine ever being mentioned on broadsheet.ie?

  3. Ronan

I’ll line up for any boosters recommended.

My wife and I have discussed it and we won’t jab our (pre-school) kids any time soon should it become available. They have had all the early-childhood programme HSE vaccines otherwise, and we’ll get the chicken pox vaccine done.

  4. Gavin

No point in asking people who see the world in black and white and label and insult people who don’t agree with them rather than offering a point of view and defending it.

Certainly won’t be getting any boosters

  5. Nilbert

    d) the authorarean nazi govermnent owned by Bill Gate and the other Satinists will nut be spiking the aids based fake vaccine into my non-mognetic arms…THE STORM IS COMING!1!!!!1

‘It would be useful to gauge how long this will continue.’
‘It would be good to know.’
Loltofuppinrama! Seriously best laugh I’ve got out of here in a long time, ten out of ten as they would say uptown.

    1. K. Cavan

I have some news for you, Frank. Maybe take a seat, good.
Your kids will be injected with the killer toxins, whether you like it or not, the government are under orders from the Elites & they don’t care what you think.
You, of course, are to blame, you accepted the gene therapy injections, despite the fact that there was no pandemic.

      1. Frank

        K. Cavan your answer may seem unhinged to most but I do agree with you.
Vaccines will be forced onto children in the coming months. With zero benefit to the child but enormous risk.
Also, kids need to get sick, it primes their immune system. Fiddle around with that at your peril!!

      1. Ronnie

Yeah I suppose so Bodger I’ll wait and see what the experts recommend. I’ve no problem taking boosters annually If needed.

  7. Shayna

Shayna, long time “listener” – double-jabbed, non-conspiracy type. I’ve been participating in door-step Covid testing for ONS (Office of National Statistics) for @14 months. Admittedly, I get paid. £25, per test in the form of vouchers, redeemable online, interestingly, not with Amazon. I spent much of my Summer, bit of Autumn not in Ireland. The thing is, I’ve been in personal contact with people who’ve had covid, a hug and a kiss, My family are huggers and kissers, tactile. In fact, tomorrow, Shayna will submit another sample to ONS. (Scheduled long-term appointment). It’s a kinda long-winded, nay to the booster. Shayna is still a tad freaked by the magnet thing offered by Bodger.

  8. Slightly Bemused

I have had so many vaccinations over the years my yellow book has inserts. And recently a print out of my vaccination against CoVid, and this year’s ‘flu jab. A doctor once wanted to take the poor battered document and put in only the ones currently relevant. I said no, this is like a memory of the places I have been to, and survived.

  9. SOQ

Vaccine against most diseases or viruses, given the risk- I respect your choice.

Back of the bus because SARS-CoV-2 injection does not work- I do not respect your choice- I no longer respect you.

    Vaccines do not work.

        1. SOQ

Cian doesn’t do context- maybe I should have said ‘Experimental CoVid-19 gene therapy’, just so there is no deliberate misinterpretation.

          1. Cian

You can’t have it both ways.

If context matters and you are called an “anti-vaxxer” on a thread about the Covid vaccines…. it implies it is the Covid vaccine you are anti. No?

Equally, when your arguments against the Covid vaccine also apply to other vaccines (“we don’t vaccinate healthy people” – uh, we do, “we don’t vaccinate one cohort to protect another” – we do for Rubella, “the vaccine isn’t 100% effective” – neither are any other vaccines, “other vaccines don’t need boosters” – um, they do and a plethora of other excuses) then the overall impression you are giving off is that you are anti ALL vaccines.

          2. SOQ

Labelling people ‘anti vaxxers’ is just another attempt to paint everyone who has concerns or reservations about these experimental CoVid-19 gene therapies as been extremists and nut cases.

It is a discrediting technique which has been used over and over again since this whole poo show started- usually by people with a paid agenda.

Just remember folks, dem boosters are still created for the original Wuhan variant and have not been updated for the now completely dominant Delta variant. CNBC January 2021 – “Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, who led the team responsible for Moderna’s vaccine, has referred to mRNA vaccines as a “plug and play” approach: It’s possible to replace one sequence of mRNA in the vaccine for another in a matter of weeks.

This allows drug companies to jump into action creating and testing vaccines that mimic new coronavirus variants that arise.”

Hmmm, any sign of those Delta variant upgrades?
