Stop complaining and take your booster,

It’s the only way back to a normal life.

We are all in this together.

By the way vaccine sales are predicted to reach $124,000,000,000.00 in 2022…

Coming to a location near you- https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/

I wonder who’s hands are being greased by this?

Some decent properties ripe for redevelopment too eh?

Meanwhile SF and SD call for a snitch line- and they will be first to complain once the local businesses go under of course.

I agree. They have the biggest mouth piece and despite their noise they haven’t been closing down in their masses

I was at a gig on Friday. Was a bit sedate at the start, but once the booze started flowing in people’s veins the place was hoppin

    Be grand

I was at a gig in the Olympia few weeks back and to say I had an unbelievable time is an understatement. For those glorious two hours it was like Covid didn’t exist. The Black Panthers were awesome

Irish pubs are being crucified. It’s somewhat difficult though to feel huge sympathy for the pub owners. They allowed this to happen. Put up no fight whatsoever and went along with every demand. Don’t remember them protesting even once. The Vintners industry reps were complete traitors. If I was a pub owner who actually tried defy the gov and had now lost my livelihood, I’d be looking for my pound of flesh from the VFI boys.

They were getting paid to stay shut, they took the money. Lockdowns were normalised, gradually turn off the tap. Businesses forclose – banks take over.

I think the elevation of the CMO to unprecedented levels of power since the advent of covid has given Holohan new impetus to carry out his dream of radically transforming Ireland’s pub culture and a level of self-justification to do so in a brutally accelerated manner.

The opening address he gave at an Alcohol Action conference in 2009 gives some insight into his mindset:

    Quotes:

“We need to think of other ways in which we can spend our time and money that will benefit our social lives, our health and our society in general. We have a distinguished culture of music, drama and sport that long preceded our drinking culture. We need to build on these and disentangle them from what is a relatively recent association with alcohol…

..If we were able to achieve success to the extent that has been achieved in road safety i.e a reduction of harm of 30% we would save 30 lives per month, 600 overnight hospital admissions per day and a cost saving to the exchequer of one billion euro…

.. As they say, where there is a will there is a way. We know we can change in Ireland, but we have to want to. We must now say that we will no longer accept this burden that alcohol is placing on our families, our society, our health and our lives. And we must act now”

But when you look back to examples in history, attempts by ideological leaders to drastically transform society in short spaces of time of time have never worked out for the better
