ITHAAFP doesn’t easily roll off the tongue, to be fair, marketing failure. Not making light of the plight, but, I’ve been doing a “Countdown” thing. I need another couple of consonants.
Jeez they really need a better group-title/acronym:
ARTIC: Alliance Resisting Truckers Increased Costs.
(They can have that for free!).
Sure – that would work!
JUGGERNAUT
Jousting Unmerited Greedy Governments Egregiously Robbing our National Articulated Unit Transporters
or if that’s too vague, overblown and hyper-syllabic ….
HONK
Hauliers Opposing Needless Kleptomania
HINO
Hauliers In New Organisation
SCANIA
Smelly Cabs in Not Interested Association
MAN
Motorists Against Nothing
Certified Union of National Transport Sceptics?
For context: two thirds of fuel costs are government taxes.
I drove a truck for “Westlife”, on their UK tour, one of eight trucks for a Dublin trucking company, we all stopped to fill up. It cost £10,000ish. That was about 12 years ago. I shudder to think what it might be now.
The vast majority of truck drivers are not independent. They work for a company. The company pays for the fuel costs.
I work with truck drivers. They get treated like sh*t.
They have more important things to protest against.
Their boss’s bank balance isn’t in the top ten.
This is just a stunt.
