Hahaha, the mods are on the ball tonight! Just as well I didn’t post a comment about a couple of swedes, and a turnip in an a bar who met a pumpkin!

Sounds about right re. Pfizer stories ; unless of course it’s to say take it , it works . Don’t be at it with your pesky questions.

An English chef and an English actress on the front page of the “Irish” Mail on Sunday. A complete joke calling itself Irish. And BS persist on putting it at the top of the list! Have you not seen their circulation figures of late? Their sales have collapsed. Doesn’t take Einstein to work out why.

  2. Steph Pinker

On a way more serious note, is The Sunday Times (Irl) only reporting *now* about Paul Reid and Johnny Giles socialising without masks in close contact, without social distancing, hugging, kissing and possibly with a few hoers d’orves without latex gloves? [I’d speculate there are many more out of pic].

Seriously? Fair play BS for reporting this already.

    1. Kali

None of these lads that are coming out with these rules believe in them, they are just to appease the twitter mob. Fair play to the times for printing it but I’d bet they won’t gain traction

      1. Steph Pinker

I agree Kali, but that’s exactly the point; how come a small volunteer online news site like BS has published so many stories and footage which other financially supported and propagandised MSM publications through TV, radio and newsprint have failed abysmally to address without being been held to account?

  3. Imelda Maybe

And Marty Morrissey’s mum’s funeral (RIP) is front-page picture news in the SIndo because …?

    Such intrusion.

  4. Steph Pinker

    ‘Race To Use 2m Expiring Moderna Jabs’;

    ‘Booster wait may be cut to beat Omicron’;

    ‘HSE urges calm over vaccine queues’;

‘Health insurers can look forward to profit spike as government changes law’:

    Enough said.

  5. GiggidyGoo

I wonder what new sops are being considered for McCourt and O’Brien?
    3335 connections in 22 months?

    1. Paulus

I must call Demi Skipper and see
If this fine San-Fran lass will agree
      To consider a trade
      With transport pre-paid;
The swop I’m suggesting is me:)

    1. GiggidyGoo

The twitterer has (of course) taken the tweet down now. But it was dated 11th Dec 2021 and referred to a visit by Michael D to a bookshop (shop) on 10th Dec. Nice photo – but Michael Do didn’t bother wearing a mask, nor did the proprietor, and they were definitely not 2m apart.

      1. Nigel

Outset of restrictions: ‘Oh no, these restrictions and mandates will turn us all into creeping informers spying on each other and denouncing each other’s infractions!’
Now: ‘I spied these infractions and denounce them!’

          1. Nigel

Wikileaks. Julian Assange blew your cover. Or was it the Panama Papers? Either way your goose is cooked.

          2. GiggidyGoo

So it’s not a secret patrol then. Good man Nigel.

But back to the original post. Do you find anything wrong with a woman being given a sentence in Cork for not wearing a mask in a shop, while the president of the country does exactly that and isn’t even before the court?

          3. Nigel

Yes, your top secret cover was blown. Very sad, you were dong so well. But I feel reassured that your not-so-secret surveillance is ongoing and thorough, comrade.

          4. GiggidyGoo

            Good lad Nigel.
No views on the actual subject matter (as usual), but the usual diversionary rant. Par for the Nigel course.

      2. Tom J

The difference being that the president is not refusing to wear a mask and has only removed it for the photo.

I’m sure Boris has a very unhappy tailor, he manages to look like he fell out of a bin, every time. Why would people even expect a man who can’t manage his personal grooming to be able to manage anything else ?

    1. goldenbrown

as my mam used to say to me about a work suit I used have to wear back in a certain time… (I hate suits)

“did you hang that thing on the floor again?”

        1. Chris

I imagine it will be both a illuminating & infuriating read. The global mafia with their lapdogs in both intelligence services & politics, have been riding roughshod over us for far too long.

          1. Chris

Lol. The thing is, RFK Jr’s assertions will remain unchallenged – to do so would draw light to his findings.

          2. benblack

Don’t worry, Tom J, you’ll wake up shortly and find out it was all a dream.

Now, back to your ‘Dallas’ re-runs.

          3. benblack

An inability to make an intellectual connection between two separate but similar events in the pursuit of internet humour is a deficiency no lens manufacturer – no matter how ubiquitous – can correct.

          1. benblack

E’Matty, you can request the removal of your ‘in moderation’ status by contacting Broadsheet on their contact page – https://www.broadsheet.ie/contact/

It would allow for a more free-flowing conversation, not only for you, but for the rest of us, too!

My experience is that, once contacted, the restriction is lifted almost immediately.

NPHET advice is wrong, dangerous and needs to stop NOW!

In this latest Iconoclast One to One interview, Dr. Vincent Carroll slams NPHET for their incorrect and dangerous advice, saying that it’s causing serious damage to people’s physical and mental health and needs to stop.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQqDWfLGbZs 35 mins long.

Vincent really is stepping up to the mark these days- fair play to him.

even my most light hearted fully vaxed friends are starting to show the strain, especially those with kids and both partners working from home,
people are so not themselves and it’s been so gradual the changes we don’t see them but they are there.

      1. Micko

        +1

Starting to see it too. I think it’s the prospect of never ending boosters and their freedom being conditional on taking the product of a private company.

Although at a dinner party last week, one of my pals asked another how many jabs he was willing to take, his reply was “as many as I need to, to live a normal life”

His wife is Canadian though, so I guess their situation maybe somewhat unique, regards travel and all.

        :(

      2. Chris

Its all intentional – wearing people down. There’s a massive renegotiation of the social contract underway, with one party (the people) being held hostage and abused. It’s Totalitarian in scope, and couldn’t exist without a significant amount of the people themselves, acting as enablers and enforcers.

The program itself is centered on fear. To understand the forces at hand will lead to shock, and a realisation that the world they’ve been sold is a lie. So, I’m unsure how many will have the strength to make the leap. The enablers are many, either through scorn or giving a patina of credibility to the ‘narrative’ – siding with this evil – that isn’t their friend.

I do imagine a fatigue will set in, where people at first – stop listening to the message (propaganda). This will probably happen around the two year mark, with more and more dropping away. Non compliance is a must, and I hope that enough will find the courage to say, ‘no more’.

      3. goldenbrown

by my own straw poll it’s a 50/50 split in my circle, people I’ve known a long time…

        – some fairly concerned
ranging from a suspicion of something they can’t quite put their finger on going on and actually don’t know what to do if another round of vaccination becomes “mandatory” to outright paranoia/ black mirror stuff

        – some almost delighted with life (no seriously)
these happier campers seem to have one thing in common – they’re all middle/upper management earners working in Govt and tech who have an almost new lifestyle thang going on with the WFH, buying everything online etc. and I also detect a hint of enjoyment in the “wartime spirit” of it all

        it’s a bit jarring :(

and though I’m ok I find myself withdrawing a bit tbh

        1. Micko

“ some almost delighted with life ”

I’ve one pal like that. He almost creamed himself when the work at home rule came back in. ;)
          .

      1. benblack

They didn’t do anything. A new variant was discovered, hence the obscene profits.

Making profits from virus mutations not any so called vaccine or remedy.

Expect the same for the next variant.

        1. SOQ

Expect the same for the next variant.

Literally the exact same- designed for the original strain of SARS-CoV-2. If there is no change in the vaccine then why do they need to keep naming them?

Do we have names for each strain of flu?

    1. SOQ

We are supposed to have only 5% unvaccinated which if correct suggests there is more than unvaccinated cancelling their gym memberships. You can expect the fitness industry to go the same way as the restaurant trade now.

Quay West in Donegal which has won multiple awards which I can personally testify to as being a next level dining experience, sent this tweet on Friday.

“For the first time in 21 years in business, we had Zero customers in the restaurant, the hospitality sector has been decimated in the last 21 months. So if anyone is in any doubt how bad things are, this is the reality !!”

      https://twitter.com/DonegalQuayWest/status/1469297296491921412

Because of in the main, stupid vaccine passports which make zero scientific sense.

    1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

When was this and importantly where ?
There’s places in some suburbs that’s a Saturday night and they wonder why police suicides were through the roof last year and the recruitment push for new recruits isn’t going so well.
Look on the bright side, everyone is wearing a mask.

    2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

a few of my pals running bars that would often see a dance off after the witching hour have just moved the dance floor to the street outside

      1. Chris

I think it was last night Janet, location – I’m not so sure. It must be a tough bind for police – especially if they are aware of whats going on. It would be in their & everyone else’s interests to step aside, when the time comes.

      1. Chris

If granny is vaccinated, how will others kill her? Oh that’s right – the vaccines don’t work. Slow clap for the likes of you down the back..

      2. SOQ

Granny is the least likely person to be arguing that her children of her children should be putting their health at risk by injected experimental gene therapy.

Or is ageism only a one way thing?

        1. Chris

^ Of course. Fear engenders a fight or flight response. The vast majority took flight of their senses. The one’s billowing for everyone to be jabbed, are doing so out of their own innate selfishness. It has absolutely nothing to do with ‘granny’. It never did.

          1. Chris

Fair enough, you name the location & bring granny along. I’ll tie one hand behind my back, but be forewarned – I’ve got a nifty left-hook.

          2. SOQ

Granny is the most important opinion within an Irish family- apart from the bank.

Credit is presented as freedom but- it is the exact opposite

          3. goldenbrown

            I think you’ll find SOQ
            that in many Irish families
            Granny IS THE BANK
            and they’re all just waiting…

          1. Nigel

‘No, no don’t mind me I’ll just be here on my 6-8km speedwalk with me big teeth in dying of covid.’

          2. Nigel

‘What an virulent omicron variant you have, Granny.’

‘All the better to infect you with, my dear.’

          3. John Smith

Grans and Grandpas are human beings who have brains and mouths. Some of them may not be thinking as well as they once did – age can do that to you – but most are still as alert as ever, even if some have been scared stiff by RTE, etc. Stop deciding things for them. Ask what they want their Christmas to be like. If they are happy to carry on as (real) normal then you don’t have to worry. If they want the new normal then you might have to rethink things.

As one of the grandparent section of society, I’m sick of having whatever time I have left ruined by restrictions, etc, supposedly to keep me safe. Safe for what? Our Christmas will be no different from those during the last few years – after all, it could be our last (Covid or no Covid) so we want to enjoy it.

          4. 1-2-1-2

That’s fair enough John and you made some valid points. I’m delighted you are able to make a choice for yourself as to what you want to do. The genuinely elderly infirm on the other hand are under threat to their lives from a small, completely preposterous, selfish and dangerous little subset of society

          5. benblack

It’s the inverse, Nigel, don’t you know?

Unvaccinated grandchildren infecting their vaccinated grandparents.

        2. 1-2-1-2

          Seriously now :
          How many times have you
          a) dropped acid?
          b) gobbled a load of E’s?
          c) hoovered up a line of coke?
          d) ingested a load of weed?
          e) all of the above?

  8. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

personally I find lots of people are spoiling for a fight,
myself I just cannot be bothered with things that require me to get on public transport.
