Up With The Boosters

Croke Park vaccination centre last week

This morning.

Via Irish Times:

Ireland has a higher Covid-19 vaccination rate than almost all our neighbours apart from Denmark, so the overall level of protection in the community against serious illness is higher than elsewhere in Europe. And most of our vaccines were Pfizer, which offers higher protection and lasts longer than the AstraZeneca doses used widely in the UK.

Meanwhile, the level of demand for boosters is significantly lower than it was for the original vaccine course, even among older and more vulnerable populations.

Over 80 per cent of those aged 80 years and up, along with 75 per cent of 70-79 year-olds, have been given a booster, whereas 100 per cent in both categories received the two-shot vaccine earlier this year.

Given most people are mostly protected through vaccination, this is entirely understandable. Demand has picked up only as warnings about the current Delta wave and the imminent dominance of the Omicron variant multiplied….

Tried getting my parent’s cert updated and was told they don’t update the certs with booster information and aren’t checking for it, that’s from the Dept of Foreign Affairs and the COVID cert helpline. Seems pointless having a cert if the information is incorrect.

Well lets hope they get their act together before Mehole and Leo wave the high hand and declare 3 shot passports.

The plus side of that is anyone with just 2 shots will automatically become ‘far right anti vaxxers’.

I am really looking forward to the 4 jabs looking down on the 3 jabs, looking down on the 2 jabs, looking down on the vaccine free.

    Hamburg…

Corona alarm in the hospital: Boosted clinic employee infected eight patients

“The Agaplesion Bethesda Hospital in Hamburg has as many corona patients as it did last in April and May. 18 cases have to be treated in the hospital, four of them are now in the intensive care unit. Eight of those affected had previously been infected by a hospital employee

The Agaplesion Bethesda Hospital last had to care for so many Covid patients in April and May: 18 Corona cases are currently in the hospital, four of them in the intensive care unit, as the “Abendblatt” reports.

Particularly unfortunate: According to the report, eight of those affected were infected in the hospital in the geriatric ward – of all things, on the ward where elderly people are cared for. They allegedly got infected from a hospital employee

Hospital staff positive one day after booster vaccination

According to the information, the staff in the hospital can be tested twice a week and the antigen test of the affected employee was negative. Because of slight symptoms, he still did a PCR test to be on the safe side – and it was promptly positive. The employee was double vaccinated and had even received his third booster vaccination just one day before the positive test.”
