On the podium yesterday from left: Iszac Henig (silver), Lia Thomas (gold) and Nikki Venema (bronze)

Yesterday.

Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Via Swimming World:

The final night of the Ivy League Championships featured a battle of transgender athletes for the title in the 100-yard freestyle. Ultimately, it was the University of Pennsylvania’s Lia Thomas who prevailed over Yale’s Iszac Henig, with Thomas adding to her previous victories at the meet.  Princeton’s Nikki Venema was the third-place finisher

…..The showdown in the 100 freestyle marked the first clash of the meet between the transgender swimmers in an individual event

Thomas also got the best of Henig. Thomas is a first-year member of the Penn women’s team, following three years as a member of the Quakers’ men’s program. Thomas’ participation on a women’s team has generated considerable controversy, due to undergoing male puberty and now competing against biological females. Henig, meanwhile, is a third-year member of Yale’s women’s team and transitioned to male at the beginning of last year.

There is a European equestrian inter college competition,in which everyone representing their colleges are on the same team,Ivy League competitions, even swimming, don’t have be binary, who makes the rules,it’s not like these “competitions” are open everyone, less than 3% accepted, after that everyone is on team ivy.

It’s still by far the best education, arguably in the world,go on the Ivy’s.

johnny, for the love of god, would you ever learn to use a jaysus full stop. and if you use a comma, leave a bleedn space after it. it’s not hard.

      1. Johnny

(Jumped for trinity, actually against Queens,in Belfast, the above is not “college sports”,more like sports day for ivys)

          1. Johnny

For crystal ball gazing or maths-quant,I do the sums,we have ivy leage grads do the writing,I’m big picture;)

          2. scottser

well big picture guy, how are you going to get your ‘vision’ across if you can’t communicate properly? or are rules just for the minions?

          3. Johnny

            Fair question.

Small example, the K9 dog biscuit business for treats infused with CBD.

Last summer,my team cultivated and harvested a thousand plants, for bio mass and extract or CBD oil.

This extract from which when added to easy to bake simple dog biscuits, can generate a top line revenue stream of 250,000.My team can grow this year 1million dollars worth dog biscuits,CBD.

Another team is now writing a deck or business plan,my work is done, but will retain a large piece.

Rules apply with other peoples money or “outside” money, which I just don’t tend work for or report to,I’m that good, the dog treat business is scalable and will need be accountable to outside money,

I also have quite few failures,I’m more R and D,research development or house money,I don’t share my toys well, not really a team player, small tight loyal boutique team.We take quite a few losses, but go for big wins like K9.

    2. K.Cavan

Johnny, would you ever get a grip, your imaginary world is of no interest to anyone. In real life, we’d all just sidle away from your drool-soaked “opinions” & dope-induced fantasies. There are two sexes, they’ve always competed separately in sports & there’s a very good reason for that. Open your eyes, look at the picture, if reading is as difficult for you as typing obviously is.

      1. Johnny

You probably sub comment on my posts the most after Janet.
Now regarding your turn on the Telly, for instance we pay 1,000 bucks for every 10,000 followers,to influencers promote our K9,have many views you at :)
        100?

Johnny, I don’t even read your comments for the most part as they are ineligible. I just like messing with your sexist, racist, classist, porridge filled noggin. You’re the equivalent of a blue bottle banging against the window, I DO try to ignore you but whacking you with the tea towel does afford some pleasure.

          1. Johnny

It’s gonna be like Dylans,The Basement Tapes, what with Cavans location and all, fair play, was getting it removed part the master plan, was he that bad, really droned on a lot,in a boring monotone manner, but that’s harsh unless it was planned.

          2. Mad

When I watched it was hard to miss John’s smirk at the end of it all as he thanked all the “contributors”, you can literally see him thinking why did I not think of hosting all these kinds of cranks years ago, this is niche but it is Atlantic City, screw your CBD doggie treats Johnny!

        2. Micko

Big picture guy markets supposedly novel product for dogs under the generic label “K9”.

K9? FFS… really thinking outside the box there. Ha ha!

Was “Rover’s wacky weed treats” already taken then, genius?

And Yup – Slideshows (or Decks)

Ye know that Powerpoint, Keynote, Google Slide etc are all “slideshow” programs right? Maybe not.

…The 2018 Farm Bill is more expansive. It allows hemp cultivation broadly, not simply pilot programs for studying market interest in hemp-derived products. It explicitly allows the transfer of hemp-derived products across state lines for commercial or other purposes. It also puts no restrictions on the sale, transport, or possession of hemp-derived products, so long as those items are produced in a manner consistent with the law.…

It’s only legal two years, but yeah it’s an old idea :)

          10. johnny

The regulations (regs) were simply not written until end 2018,in the Farm Bill,it’s a fact, you are wrong, frantically and hysterically flooding the zone with nonsense, does not change the fact you are wrong, think Whole Foods, not some poxy unregulated online spot.

  2. Broadbag

Clearly they’re not transitioning solely to pick up a few poxy swimming medals, but they’re clearly ruining the sport for their ‘fellow’ non-trans women.

      1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

        That’s a very ignorant comment.
I’m currently reading a book about the hiraj it’s interesting in that the length of tradition in humans that feel like this. however to allow people who have unfair male advantages to compete in female sports it unfair and dangerous, it rather takes the term sporting out of the event.

        1. Clampers Outside

Fair dues for reading up. Be mindful of the attempted revisionism and speculation of past historical characters, and cultures, that some books / academics make claims of.

The most obvious and in my own reading most frequently abused of cultural examples, the American Indian idea of ‘two spirit’ being used as, similarities at best, direct examples of at worst, modern day ‘gender identity’ theory.

      2. goldenbrown

another way of looking at it Rominick is that you are the one with the mental issue and need the assistance

your own thought process in forming a statement like that would certainly appear to be limited in function

        1. Trustin Judeau

People with other types of body dysmorphia are not encouraged into their delusion.
You dont tell an anorexic person that yes, they are too fat. Its a delusion of the mind, they need mental help.

          1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

eating disorders are often much more closely related with control than body image

          2. The Millie Obnoxious™

            +1 Janet

Anyone with even the smallest experience with eating disorders could tell you that it rarely has anything to do with body image at all, and usually manifests as a coping mechanism for deeper trauma.

    1. K.Cavan

Sure, Broadbag, definitely, nobody would do that, never in a million years would anyone cheat to become a multi-millionaire sports star & a secular saint to the mentally-ill sociopaths who support this Woke lunacy.
You just typed the phrase “non-trans women” & you’re probably not joking, are you? I reckon it would do you the world of good to do some transitioning yourself, back in the direction of Reality, perhaps, because you can’t even bring yourself to accept the inevitable result of changing the rules to accomodate delusional minorities, which is the inevitable erasure of all women from sport.
An unknown Irish 16-year-old male has run 100m faster than any European woman in history, allowing these men to compete against women is one of the worst acts of vile misogyny ever perpetrated on our sisters.

  3. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

It’s blatantly unfair and makes a joke out of females sports careers. It’s when it’s in sports that include throwing a punch I find it the most shameful.
I have absolutely no prob with mixed facilities, gender neutral as it where or even gender neutral sports but that’s not what this is.

    1. K.Cavan

Women’s need for Women-Only spaces is actually a more serious a matter than segregated sports, Janet. Get back in touch with your common sense, your fear of being labelled a killer of trans people may have led you to embrace the insane & increasingly comical diktats coming out of the depravity of a crumbling American empire but the fact that some man thinks he’s a woman is one of the least convincing arguments you could possibly advance for allowing him into women’s spaces.

      1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

K Cavan I didn’t say ladies didn’t need the choice of that space. I have visited pools/ gyms where you have a choice, a big communal changing / shower room plus separate stalls. Big weights room for everyone and a separate one for ladies etc. Doesn’t this kind of arrangement suit everyone?

  4. Micko

    Lemme get this straight.

The person that won the silver was born a woman and is now transitioned to be a man, but are they also competing on the women’s team / league?

Surely they should be competing in the mens events.

    1. Johnny

They are all so over competing,do you have any idea how competitive it is get in,now all help each other run the world, they already won, laughing, giggling even at ordinary people just like you:)

      1. Micko

        Would make sense.

Don’t get why someone who is now a man is able to compete with women though.

He could have beaten that lady who came first…

        1. scottser

there’s an aspect of this story that needs teasing out.
liz thomas above there went through puberty as a male and transitioned as an adult. in sporting terms this would give her an advantage as she has developed male muscle mass and proportions. on the other hand, transitioning pre-puberty is hugely contentious particularly when children can’t be expected to be mature enough to make such drastic and life-altering decisions.
the only sensible solution i can see is to have a third category of competition.

      2. K.Cavan

The “non-gendered” sports idea is a non-runner, just trying to make utter stupidity look less stupid by dressing it up in a clown suit.
Everyone knows there is only one solution & it existed before the problem was invented by the Wokeist media to divide people.
Everyone competes on the basis of their sex at birth & stops cheating. Failing that, removal of external genitalia will sort the men from the boys, also ensuring a supply of spare pricks for the mentally-ill young girls who want a Strapadictomy.
        Chop, chop.

  5. Johnny

The weed game especially now that New York and New Jersey are open,is big business with lots well educated super smart college graduates in it or getting in,gamers, people into coin, quants,a lot then are smokers.

Snoop’s management team for his cannabis hustle is run by a fit x Goldman crew,he has one the best platforms and will surpass what Dr Dre made.

I’m no Ivy League sports expert, but I have been Head Charles, most the interns / new teams in weed are from really good colleges, live in a post sexual identity world, they just don’t care.

    1. K.Cavan

Yes, they all arrive in college unable to drive, most have never been drunk & they’re all virgins. They live in a post-sex world, not a post sexual-identity world but that’s where the Elite want them, not breeding.

  6. ANO

An incredibly complex issue that touches on the evolution of our species or at least our society and how we view some central pillars of it.

Janet’s views here would largely echo my own, identify however you need to but in the sporting world we need to consider the unfair advantages this may confer to certain competitors.

Henig still competing as a woman while identifying
as a man seems to go against the spirit of the whole process in the first place.

Reading elsewhere, it seems he wanted to transition socially but wasn’t yet ready to begin hormone treatment so remains biologically a woman ? I guess this means he can’t swim for the men’s team so remained on the woman’s, a fringe of a fringe case.

    1. K.Cavan

So, ANO, you reckon H. Sapiens is going to be the first animal to evolve a load of extra genders? What are you on & how much is it per tab?

  7. Clampers Outside

Nigel must be beaming with pride at Lia’s achievements.

To have gone from approximately top 400 in men’s to number one in so many women’s swimming events.

Beaming with pride Nigel is for sure.

    1. Johnny

Is it the end for you Clamps,I feel that way about the NY Knicks,I now support the NY Nets, will you no longer follow and support ivy leagues sports and colleges ?

      1. Clampers Outside

An end? Dunno about any end, this is just a continuation of what was said would happen with the introduction of Self ID nonsense.

          1. Clampers Outside

            +1
Didn’t realise he’s been out, as I too haven’t been on a lot lately, only managing to skim.

ah sure, life is all swings and roundabouts – still here, just been busy :)

          2. Micko

            Ah Nigel

            The Yin to Clamper’s Yang

            The Joker to His Batman

The Romeo to his…. actually – never mind. That could get messy. ;-)

          3. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

I miss the man who could talk about prehistoric axes….come back Papi

          4. K.Cavan

Only because my aim isn’t always what it once was. You can always know exactly what Nigel thinks about any subject by perusing the MSM & investigating the more outlandish of the mewling nonsense coming from socially & intellectually crippled teenaged college students.

  8. E'Matty

It’s a bit weird that more women don’t recognise the attack on feminity this agenda poses. Will people wake up when all womens physical competition sports are being won by transgender male to females?

    1. Kali

I would assume it’s more to do with fear of being labelled as a terf and transphobe than it is to do with failure to recognise the problems that self identifying genders can bring. Just look at how J.K. Rowling is getting on. It’s a complex issue and people should be able to live the life they want…to an extent. But like all issues it has militant followers and detractors that have a ‘either with us or against us ‘ attitude.

It’s this shutting down of debate that irks people more than the issue I believe. As it’s a debate that affects society as a whole, many people want a say. The counter to that is a my body my choice and no opposition should be allowed.

    2. K.Cavan

Most women don’t support this nonsense but their voices are silenced by the big boys with the fat wallets who run the world.

  9. Zaccone

People can identify as whatever they want to socially, more power to them. Fly your flag etc.

But when it comes to things like sports its biologically completely and utterly unfair (and outright dangerous in combat sports or very physical ones like rugby) to have someone whos transitioned male to female competing in women’s sport.

Its pure virtue signalling to insist “everyone is the same”. The science is very clear on this.

      1. K.Cavan

Nobody really gives a rat’s bottom”, Johnny. That system is racist, sexist insanity, reflecting how dire the situation is in the US, an empire past it’s prime.
Universities are mostly a waste of money, now, only STEM is worth having, the rest is waffle. Defund The Universities.

    1. K.Cavan

Mwaaa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Thanks, Dolly, The Guardian, Trans, Kurds…you know they just made that up, right?

      1. Doxxy Chainsaw

Tell us again about the people stalking you and sticking you with the vaccine. How many doses have they forced into you by now?

  10. Mad

The only people who are worried about this are those who are born biologically with willies but rarely if ever get to use them

  11. Steph Pinker

Considering the future of sport – and if this the way forward – maybe a type of handicap specific system should apply to all participants; such as height, weight, levels of training etc?

Possibly an amalgamation of stipulations which apply to all athletes similar to those who participate in horse racing, boxing etc…

Otherwise, it’s a wasted venture and defeats the meaning of sport – unless one’s a gladiator.

    1. Mad

There have always been girls who took steroids etc
This levelling up will benefit sport in general as non- masculine females will innovate in training etc
