Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly
This morning/afternoon.
As of yesterday, there were 808 people in hospital ‘with Covid-19,’ the highest figure since January 26.
Via RTÉ News:
As of this morning, there were 51 patients with the virus in intensive care units, up from 47 yesterday.
This is creating a “very heavy burden” on hospitals as entire wards have to be used exclusively for treating Covid patients, he said.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Today with Claire Byrne, Minister Donnelly said he said he is not concerned about the trends in terms of the population.
He said: “The ongoing advice I have from public health is that while the numbers are high, the total amount of severe illness in the country is still low.”
Anyone?
Covid-19 cases creating ‘heavy burden’ on hospitals – minister (RTE)

The more covid cases in the general population, the more in hospital.
Again this is the difference between hospitalised for or with covid
Basically it sounds more like “this isn’t going to give me any more headline inches, so I’m really bothered with COVID anymore”
Yeah COVID now ripping through schools – The family and I have all managed to catch it after 2 years scot free – Numbers creeping up but the government are “done” with COVID
I seem to be surrounded by vaxxed and boosted people that continue to catch Covid or the flu and be crook as a chuck for two to three days on average, some of them for a second time. Thankfully none required more than bed rest and OTC meds for temperatures.
Time will tell if “The BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 reprograms both adaptive and innate immune responses”
