Kneecap – Thart Agus Thart

Gael force.

On the eve of St Patrick’s Day, the New York Times ran a feature on pioneering Belfast Irish-language hip-hop trio Kneecap.

Great to see Irish artists recognised abroad and thanks to reader Johnny for alerting us to the progress of an act we first championed back in 2017.

The lads – Mo Chara, Moglai Bap and DJ Provai – wrote Thart Agus Thart during lockdown and it was produced by BLVTH.

The video was directed by Peadar O Goill.

As one YouTube commenter wrote:

“This is how the language will revive.”

Nick says: More power to your Kneecap.

    Quality Track.

Weird that had it been s h i t é there would be tonnes of comments. Irish people just can’t love their own.

I’m genuinely envious of their command of the Irish language.

I’ve been working really hard over the past two years to get back into Irish, after having any passion for the language stamped out in school, and it’s been such a pleasure to rediscover it.

    Fair play to the lads.

Not wanting to sound churlish, but how many times were my KneeCap agus Mo Chara links censored? More than a couple I can tell you.. great to see them back and let’s hope they found that bus pass…
