Russia’s purported 20 / 20 shock and awe walkover versus a supposedly depleted Ukraine side has turned into a shocking and awful timeless test match. If that’s your concept of winning then you’d best pen a note to the OED to amend their current obviously fallacious, erroneous and exiguous definition to reflect this this post truth world of alternative facts. What a time to be alive.

        1. bisted

…isn’t shock and awe the yankee modus operandi…how is sleepy Joes latest regime change going anyway?

          1. stephen moran

Nope the Russian shock jocks spun us the “special security operation” would be over in days – they didn’t plan of their star No 3 batman The Don Moskva been clean bowled for a duck. Its much more like Boycott and Tavaré looking for a face saving draw now – plans for a dashing run chase led by Viv, Gilchrist and boom boom Afridi have been stumped.

          2. bWildered1

Well, ‘Sleepy Joe’ seems to have lured Psycho Putin into his death match.
What odds Putin wont be alive this time next year.
(Unless he hands himself over to the ICC.)

          1. Verbatim

Comedian, now President Zelenskyy is worth over $1.3 Billion dollars and has $35 million mansion in Flordia.
He has a billionaire backer, Igor Kolomoisky who backed the Presidential TV show, starring Zelenskyy, that was basically Zelenskyy’s campaign ad that got him his political clout.

          2. Broadbag

Vlad The Invader worth up to $200bn, awkward for Zelenskiy, he obviously has a lot of catching up to do on the corruption stakes.

          3. SOQ

Yup I shot down for suggesting that a couple of weeks ago.

But if you follow through the history of how he came to power, you will see that what started as fiction became fact- even the same party name. And yes, Kolomoisky’s finger prints are all over it, same as with the Biden’s dirty dealings.

          4. stephen moran

Corruption is endemic in autocracies as is nepotism and negative selection – that is how you end up with a military more interested in creaming off the top rather than soldiery with every layer on the way down wanting its 1% of your 10%. That’s why you have superyachts and a navy that isn’t seaworthy . As even one of Putin’s TV whores found out.

            https://twitter.com/DmitryOpines/status/1517449267887104000

          5. SOQ

Putin’s ratings are at a near all time high- that says it all.

The US on the other hand have no idea where all the arms they supplied into Ukraine have gone. Don’t be surprised if said weapons start popping up in other conflicts around the world soon.

Now the clown puppet Zelenskyy is demanding the EU pay Ukraine billions every month INDEFINITELY. They are milking it for all its worth.

          6. anti bot

ah yeah, he’s killing innocent people, displaying millions. He invaded a country. Like Hilter, he should be supported. How effing deranged are you and various akas? Go on answer, do innocent people deserve to be invaded, forced to leave their homes and / or be killed? 4 weeks I’ve being asking you this question. But always fail to answer. why don’t you and your akas eff off back to your quanon websites. You have ruined this website. Bodger is looking for click bait, yet has lost many people because of you and your aliases

          7. Nigel

            ‘that says it all’

It does, but I’m not sure it’s what you think it says.

Who does Zelensky think he is, the head of a country that’s just been invaded by a vastly superior miltary power desperately looking for help from his allies? Da noive.

          8. SOQ

It says that the Russian people agree with his actions- what else could it mean?

If Ukraine is as neutral as you claim. how then could the US and EU be it’s allies? Steelworks running out of water apparently- let’s see what crawls out of that.

          9. stephen moran

One thing is for sure is that if there is ever going to be a “Marshall Plan” type rebuild for Ukraine it will require as many forensic anti-fraud accountants as builders. That is not a political comment, just a reflection of reality as we’ve witnessed in Bulgaria / Hungary etc. etc. with misuse and corruption involved with far smaller sums of EU funding.

          10. Nigel

How meaningful is that in a country with state controlled media and which cracks down on all dissent and opposition and independent media? How can you even trust the polls themselves?

I’ve never claimed Ukraine is neutral. How can Ukraine be neutral when it’s being invaded?

I expect a lot of starved, wounded, thirsty, shell-shocked human beings will ‘crawl out,’ if they’re allowed.

          11. SOQ

Conveniently ignoring the fact that coke head of Kiev banned the opposition parties and closed down the media outlets ONE YEAR before this all started?

Ukraine was just as much a dictatorship as Russia- the difference being that we are supposed to all ignore such while cheer leading- and the Nazis of course.

$7 BILLION a month he is demanding- in the middle of a war where there could be no possible way of knowing how much the repair bill will be.

          12. Nigel

Conveniently ignoring who invaded who. Banning opposition parties is a bad look but Putin does it all the time.

The idea that Ukraine is as much a dictatorship as Russia is laughable.

Wars are expensive. Blame the guy who started it.

          13. anti bot

Go on reply soq / cavan. Do you think acceptable for Russia to invade a sovereign nation and murder innocent people. I’ve this question 20 times, at least, not one reply. Go back to your lonely little man quanon lives. Go ruin another website

          14. Nigel

You said Ukraine was more of a dictatorship than Russia. All you’ve shown is that there are Nazis in Ukraine.

          15. JustMe

            Hey SOC,

Do you think some of those weapons the ‘US has no idea where they are’ might be embedded in Russian tanks?

Can you tell us why the Russian fleet high-tailed it out of Ukrainian waters when the Maskva took a delivery of Ukrainian ammunition, and left the Turks to pick up the survivors?

    2. Harry

Failing WW3 nothing else can be done
Now as the whys and ways the reasoning as to how this war happened the spotlight must be turned on Zelenskyy and Biden and the possibility that the rumours of Biden father and sons corrupt dealing in Ukraine is examined
The FBI has hunters lap top
We had a war just after. one year of Biden coming to power and maybe Zelenskyy has the goods on Biden and used it as leverage
Ukraine was never going to win this and yet Zelenskyy kept poking the Russian bear and it’s not as though we all do not know Putin is a bastard and a man you do not provoke into war
We saw the result and now we are left with one hell of a mess to clean up

Now the big question is who is going to foot the bill for all these tens of thousands of now hundreds of thousands of refugees?

And no one in government is prepared to tell us

    3. Kali

There’s a severe lack of anti Russian headlines today. It could be a sign the winds have changed for poor old Zelensky. His coke fuelled video hasn’t done him any favours, who’d have thought getting poo faced and live streaming a rant would be a bad look for a world leader.

      1. Harry

The service station one did it for me
I have seen some of the footage of underground in the steel works where azov troops and mercenaries have loads of civillians children old young at their disposal
It’s looking more and more apparent these are the human shields
It reminds me of hamas and the civilian human shields israel claimed and kept on going on about
These human shields at the mercy of those who say they are defending

But in reality meat for the grinder

        1. Kali

That seemed the likely goal. Push the innocents in front and take pictures of the corpses and blame the Russians. The Ukrainian leaders seem to care more about PR than their citizens safety

    4. Nigel

He’s flattened a city full of Russian speaking Ukrainians, killed thousands, displaced the rest, and it still isn’t over. Is that a win?

      1. bisted

…killing thousands of innocents…displacing millions…mmm…where have I heard that before?

          1. bisted

…oh yeah…I forgot…when sleepy Joe bombs a whole country back to the stone age and his boss reintroduces open slave markets it doesn’t matter because it’s the good guys…and anyway, they’re brown people…

          2. Nigel

What you didn’t forget was that when Putin bombs and murders people in a military adventure you have to point over there.

Ironic how everyone gets woke when defending Putin.

          3. bisted

…right Nigel…gets very confusing…are you being appologist here or merely defending the indefensible?

      2. Harry

So the wests media keeps telling us Nigel
        All unsubstantiated by independent means
Meanwhile the reich supplying arms to Russia according to daily telagraph
        But that’s a UK paper
Meanwhile government looking to displace Irish from accommodation for the Ukrainians
Strange being 1% of the population of the EU we are being told to accommodate 200 thousand refugees which would mean 20 million Ukrainians will be refugees
France meanwhile are taking 100 thousand
They have a population of 67.5 million which is 13.5 times our population
So in reality their share should be 2.7 million refugees

      3. Harry

So how do you bomb a city and avoid Russian speaking Ukrainians Nigel
When the city is being run by the Kiev military forces
I suppose it was a bit like when NATO invaded Iraq
        Syria
        Afghanistan
        Libya
But we heard very little about the civilian’s as of course NATO only dose friendly fire
I suppose all those Russian separatists who are Ukrainian that did not want to live under the Kiev coup
Had to endure the slaughter of 25 thousand circa 2014 to 2022 for it was friendly fire not Russian military firepower

        1. Nigel

You could try not bombing it.

I wonder how keen Russian-speaking Ukrainians really are on Putin after he started the separatist conflict and has now blown their homes to smithereens.

    5. Harry

Here we have it the krouts and Germans selling weapons to Russia and Ireland expected to bite the bullet when it comes to price gouging at the pumps and most other things

    6. Kin

      Of course they are .
Meanwhile the arms industry are having a field day
      Fortunes are being made

  1. GiggidyGoo

Housing crisis? Suddenly FFGr can do something – but due to lack of housing for refugees.
‘The minister had emergence powers available to him under existing legislation…..’
Only to be used though when the EU and world are looking at us.

Yoghan Murphy must be having a good old laugh – his twitter is very quiet. Surely there’s a role for him in the Russian/Ukraine conflict? After all he’s employed by the OSCE, which Russia has a permanent delegation to.

    1. Harry

And yes the property crises regarding refugees
Dose this mean state forces people to surrender their parents homes as they are in nursing homes
Dose this mean if you have a spare room you are forced to take a refugee
Dose this mean all new state owned housing handed over to refugees
Dose this mean all hotels guesthouses and b&bs are taken under state control destroying our tourism
Will they force the vulture funds and cookbooks funds to house refugees in them but at what cost rental €2600 a month average
Seems like something China would do

But I see massive tented cities
Then our health education language tutors councillors we have waiting lists for years to access them
So will it now be Ukrainians heading the lists
I can see it now a disaster
But our EU masters have given Leo and mehole their orders

      1. anti bot

very strong whiff of racist off Harry, not surprising given that he is a Trump supporter. Are you sure you are on the right website?

        1. Harry

          Anti bot
There is no sniff of racism off that post
Unless of course the only refugees that are refugees are white European mainly Catholic Ukrainians who are not members of the EU compared to Arab and African refugees mainly Muslim fleeing wars
Maybe look at the numbers allowed in by our government and compare the data
Fact is france is going to take in 100 thousand but we are having forced on us talk of 200 thousand double that of france but a population 13.5 times larger
We cannot even house our own people or provide health care education and decent pension for our old retired people
Or are we expected to put Ukrainian refugees over our own people and tell that to a Irish family in a hub for two years that replaced a B&B

I think all our chickens have come back to roost as successive incompetent governments wasted our taxes and even worse engaged in out and out corrupt practices

          As for trump
During his presidency he did not start wars
Not even a year into Bidens presidency we saw rhetoric from the White House which was not exactly conducive to peace but war mongering
We now have a distinct possibility of NATO sleepwalking into a war and a war that Biden would relish

As bad as trump was his policies regarding the Middle East his work in drawing both North Korea and South Korea is beginning to bring a closer less hostile relationship and his policies towards China are seen now as prudent

Trump is a butt hole but he won because a more obnoxious piece of work was more palatable than Hillary

          Biden is an idiot

          1. anti bot

Really, you only came on here a few weeks ago, to moan about refugees? You have never accepted that an invasion of a sovereign nation and the killing of innocent people is unacceptable. you have only complained about Ireland letting more immigrants per capita than France, even though the figures were wrong. Really strong whiff of racist

          2. anti bot

Sorry, I meant to ask why is Biden an idiot? Trump was the biggest idiot president ever. And he bombed Syria, and ordered fighting to continue in Afghanistan. How can you possibly say he was not a war monger. Again you’re on the wrong website. go back to you’re buddy Gemma

          3. GiggidyGoo

France and UK also bombed Syria, after a suspected chemical attack. Makes Johnson and Macron war mongers then. Some idiots eh?

Trump ordered army forces out of Afghanistan.

          4. anti bot

Goo / soq / every other trump supporters, look over there. Look what murica did in the past… eff that, any invasion is the same, but to try to justify it as acceptable to invade Ukraine and murder of innocent people is bs. You nordies must, I know same person, must get what invasion is.

          5. bWildered1

Well, ‘Sleepy Joe’ seems to have lured Psycho Putin into his death match.
What odds Putin wont be alive this time next year.
(Unless he hands himself over to the ICC.)

          6. JustMe

            Trump didn’t start wars?

            Come on!
Trump didn’t do anything Putin didn’t want him to do.
Trump was, and is, a Russian asset.

      2. Verbatim

There’s a terrible whiff of sulfur off you smelly butt!

@Harry. With Biden handing over another $1.3 billion to Ukraine, I imagine that most Ukrainians will be running home once they see what Europe has to offer. After all, the whole of the country has not been decimated.

        1. Harry

          Verbatim
Apparently it’s being revealed that zelenskys wealth off shore amounts to $1.3 billion
And they go on about Putin

    2. yupyup

OSCE, to be fair, were a good source in the early days of this pooh show. Helped cut through a lot of the spin and blatant lies coming from all directions. Admittedly, I haven’t taken a look at any of the reports since the early days of the invasion.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Their website, under ‘what we do’ says –

        arms control
        Border management
        conflict prevention and resolution

        amongst other things.

    3. SOQ

Just wondering- has Sinn Féin made any statements on this whole thing as yet? They were the people who were making most noise about the housing shortage after all.

          1. JustMe

Sinn Gein has been very silent since they ‘won’ the GE?

            Really?

I have listened as Pearse Doherty wiped the floor with government parties.

Where have you been getting your information?

  2. Kim Cardassian

Russia a step closer to invading Moldova. Guess there are US bio labs there too? How will the Putin Mickey lickers spin this one?

    https://flip.it/tK2XC0
Russia threatens Moldova after Ukraine in dramatic expansion of Putin’s war objectives

    1. stephen moran

and don’t forget those legions of Nazi’s in Moldova – the Biolabs have all been moved to Mongolia by George and Hillary’s pizza van the same way Saddam cunningly moved his to Syria

    2. GiggidyGoo

All very interesting, and a lot of importance being put on Moldova not being a member of NATO, hence western countries wouldn’t be obliged to defend it.
Ireland isn’t a member of NATO. So, is it on Putins list too?

      1. stephen moran

I’ll have to go on a reconnaissance. mission to Ringaskiddy to check on our top secret biolabs but we’ve still got plenty of closet (an open) Nazi’s that is for sure

          1. stephen moran

Ireland has the luxury of geography and a lack of any mineral or commodity resources – it would also required a massive amphibious assault (which the Russian military has zero capacity for and never attempted – that’s probably what is saving Taiwan as the Chinese military historically has shown itself to be even less competent than the current inept Russian soldiery plus they are completely unproven force. Ireland still has a free rider issue with NATO yes but defense spending for such a small country is a sunk cost with no positive civilian spillovers or sales potential unlike the in the US with the MIC (which invented and pioneered all manner of things that we use daily)

          2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

That made me laugh out loud, it wasn’t a very successful defense was it ? Have you noticed which language your deluded comment was typed in. Also… Well prepared…. please, against who ? The smurfs maybe.

          3. Tom J

@ Janet/Smurfette, I would hazard a guess it’s the same language you made your comment in. Unless you know of an alternative universal language we should all speak.

          4. Tom J

            @ Janet
I must learn that so we can communicate properly. Is that from your alternative universe.

          5. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

          6. Tom J

I hear your man Michael Murphy is great at interpretation of dreams. Have you ever watched good night sweetheart, about a guy going from the 1940s to the present day and back again. Living a double life.

          7. GiggidyGoo

All well and good Stephen. But what if we were invaded? NATO are not obliged to defend us. Say our country would give a geographical advantage as a stepping stone to becoming a threat to EU and the UK?
Just pointing out that we are not in NATO, and questioning whether we would be treated differently than Moldova?

            @Tom
We haven’t really. We’ve been assisted by Spain, France centuries ago. The absence of the word ‘successfully’ in your post says it well.

          8. Tom J

As you may recall, before the Russian army invaded Ukraine, they wanted to carry out similar manoeuvres close to Ireland and were told where to go.

          9. stephen moran

I think they’d all be back fighting each other with catapults, swords and living in caves long before they’d get around to worrying about invading someone in division 3Z on their wish list

          10. GiggidyGoo

            @Tom J.
            What similar manoeuvres?

They left after being requested to by Cork fishermen. They weren’t told to go.

          11. Tom J

You know the manoeuvres they were allegedly carrying out near the Ukrainian border, when they said they had no intention of invading but went ahead and done it. The Russians were told in no uncertain terms that no manoeuvres would be carried out near Ireland.

    3. Harry

Actually Transnistria is a breakaway area from Moldova and most of the 9.7% of Moldova’s population chose to live in that breakaway area
Moldova was part of the Soviet Union in 1940 and did not exist 1918
Infact there was no Ukraine and the nearest to Ukraine was Volhynia
The whole area was conquered by Poland and Lithuania in 1320 and annexed by the Russian empire in 1778
I suppose that about the time the Russians built their naval base and Sevastopol
The crimea also was part of the Russian empire which was the setting for the disastrous charge of the light brigade that the Russians had their Turkey shoot against a combined British and French attempt during the Crimean war

  3. Harry

It took a week by the FBI to finally do what decades of an inept gardai could not do

  4. TenPin Terry

If you are homeless or living with parents or unable to afford to buy a new house you would have every right to feel aggrieved at how quickly this government is going to tear up existing legislation for an unlimited number of Ukranian refugees now flooding into Ireland.
This is not going to end well.

‘ Local authorities are to be given greater emergency powers to buy homes to house Ukrainian refugees in the coming weeks under plans being developed by the Government. ‘

    http://www.irishexaminer.com/news/politics/arid-40857149.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

    1. Harry

Tin man according to the government it’s going to cost next year €2.5 billion to look after all the needs of Ukrainian refugees
In the article it then goes on to state it will cost € 400 to € 500 million to look after 10 thousand
So it’s between €40 to €50 grand a pop or between €4 billion and €5billion
Considering the social welfare is around €200 a week for an unemployed Irish person or €11 thousand a year
Seems a gravy train for those involved in the hunger industry and in charge of our taxes

        1. Kin

          Stephen Moran
Take a bow and you really made my day with your posting
Takes my mind back and this guy deserves his legacy
That night I remember it well
He was brought over by a small time music promoter called Paddy McPoland to play in the new inn operated by smiley Bolger
These were the days that the music scene was at its most vibrant in Dublin
The press gig was in the wildebeest on Johnson’s court and I never saw a guy so whacked out suddenly come alive and perform a pure magic set
He was famous for his ability to come back from near death and such a genius paid so much for his craft
          Again thank you

      1. TenPin Terry

I think it’s absolutely right that all the stops are being pulled out for Ukrainian refugees.
But I also think Irish people have a right to feel aggrieved their government hasn’t pulled out a couple of those stops for them before now.
        That is all.

        1. Mad

We Have Everything to Lose: Dr. Lawrie Details Why the WHO Treaty is a Direct Threat to Humanity

1.) The WHO would reserve the right to decide what constitutes a pandemic and have already changed the definition of the term. “It could be the flu.”

2.) Treaty gives the WHO the power to name the new disease decide what quarantine measures are needed on a global scale.

3.) The WHO would control over who gets to develop the new treatments and decide whether they’re safe.

4.) They would be given the authority to determine who gets quarantined locked down.

5.) The WHO would decide over vaccine mandates for each country.

Gardai have sent Varadkars file to the DPP.
“ In serious crimes, the Gardaí send a file to the DPP and the DPP decides whether or not to prosecute the suspect. In less serious crimes, the Gardaí make the decision, but whoever makes the decision the prosecution is still taken in the name of the DPP who has the right to tell the Gardaí how to deal with the case.”

The more important question is who could replace him.
No-one seems to have an answer for that.

It’s on the grapevine that “Polish Armed Forces have begun to create a strike force on the territory of Romania. In the near future, it is planned to bring a consolidated contingent into the territory of Moldova under a pretext (peacekeeping).
Such plans have been hatched for a long time, but in connection with the announcement of the goals of the second phase of the special military operation of the RF Armed Forces, it was decided to force them.”
This is not getting any better, is it?
