I don’t think anyone would disagree with expanding and modernising the defence forces. As a nation we need to be able to defend ourselves. My issue was with the last part of Martin’s response, that no nation can act alone.
Indirectly what he is talking about is an EU level militarily. That will not be remanded by anyone the Irish public through its government has appointed. Arguably militarily decisions impact and dictate foreign policy.
We cannot save and defend our sovereignty by discarding it and handing it over to the European Union.
