Defence Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk gave no further details but said, without providing evidence, that there could be future attacks by Russian bombers.

Russia has previously denied assertions by Ukrainian officials that it has tried to storm the sprawling, Soviet-era steelworks on the Sea of Azov where civilians have also been sheltering.

            Collective punisment for crimes committed by others? War crime.
            Putin starting an ethnic conflict in a neighbouring state? War crime.
            You don’t get to play the victim card when you’re committing war crimes.
            Funny how a single swastika meant an anti-covd protest was heroic and selfless but a few thousand in Ukraine justifies the military invasion of an entire country and the slaughter of thousands of civilians and the displacement of millons.

    Russia didn’t defeat the Nazi’s btw, the Soviet Union did – the composition of the Red Army was about 35% – 40% Ukrainian and the US Lend Lease Act supplied all their trucks and a lot of the arms.

    The Azovstal plant is *huge*. It t is over 3km x 3km

    It was one of the main Soviet iron and steel works. It had profound importance to USSR war machine. They lost it to the Germans between 1941 and 1943.

    When they got it back they turned it into a fortress so it could not be captured again. It has miles of underground tunnels – it even has nuclear bunkers!

    There is no way the Russians will capture it – unless they starve the defenders out.
