The 17-year-old, who accepted his presence was intimidating, was released on six months of supervised probation today.
CCTV footage emerged of a 17-year-old girl at Howth Junction station falling between the platform and a stationary train on 1 April last year.
She was helped back onto the platform by her friends and staff.
Investigating gardaí obtained directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions and charged three people aged 17 with violent disorder.
One of them had an additional charge for assault causing harm to the girl knocked off the platform; his case has been separated and sent forward to the Circuit Court for trial.

violence is all they understand. there’s been decades of Gardai and courts, and the end result is them walking around fully knowing they can do what they like and nothing will happen to them. and this is another example. We need a force full of Lugs Brannigans taking lumps out of them, boot and fist is all they understand.
Well, a short custodial sentence might’ve stymied his natural talent for being a danger to members of the public, one of them kicked another girl in the head, as she ran for the train. I mean, what was the worst that could’ve happened to the victim? Decapitation, loss of a limb, maybe?

According to the RTE news story linked in the above post the kickers’s sentencing has been adjourned for a month
It’s scheduled for trial in the Circuit Court.
Cowards the lot them – as he’s reported as having said when questioned:-
“I felt bad I didn’t help her; I was in shock.”
“In situations like that, you just walk away. You don’t get involved,”
Sure you’re no sort of a criminal to be taken seriously in this country until you’ve over 100 convictions, then you might get the slap on the wrist, before that it’s just a tenner in the charity box and ”I’m really sorry” and off you go to terrorize us innocent fools going about our daily lives having the gall to contribute to society rather than leech off it. If I was a younger man I’d leave this sorry excuse for a country behind and never look back, it’s farcical on so many levels across so many spheres of society.
I don’t know where you would go. You would encounter similar behaviour in the UK and in the US you may wish you were punched instead of being shot.

Only a child really, these kids are from deprived areas there’s no facilities and nothing to do, the goverment needs to do more for these areas to get these kids back on track

I live about 10 mins walk from Howth Junction, so let me tell ya, these kids aren’t abandoned, they’re just little scumbags.
The type that hang around outside shops intimidating pensioners coz they know they can’t be touched by the cops.

That being said, they thankfully are the minority, plenty of good kids here too, but yeah a bit of “jail time” wouldn’t hurt.

We were bombarded with messages of how men treat women badly in this country after the young teacher was killed at the canal. Now the authorities have a chance to send out a strong message and this is what happens. We’ve a pathetic justice system that favours criminals rights over their victims here
