Ukraine’s President Zelensky has marked the 100th day of war with a video message saying:

“The armed forces of Ukraine are also here … the people of our nation are here. We’re defending Ukraine for 100 days already. Victory will be ours. Glory to Ukraine!”

      That poor woman, couldn’t a everybody around her just adopt completely to her way of thinking and restrict their own diets in favour of a vegan diet as her feelings trump everything else in life. Oh the humanity

      Vegans are entitled to their feelings and being a chef at times when I see the cruelty in the way live stock is treated I am on the edge of giving up meat my self
      The recent peta video of a polish slaughter house turned my stomach
      The video of a pig slaughtering facility in the USA where pigs were dropped into a cage type unit screaming them gassed
      Every time I pass trucks loaded with sheep beef cattle I actually feel terrible guilt

        No one cares if others want to stop eating meat, it’s when some get obnoxiously pushy and start demanding others do as they do when things go sour. Vegans protesting that others shouldn’t eat meat is like meat eaters protesting that vegans should be force fed meat. If this woman doesn’t want to eat meat then that’s her choice, no reason why she can’t be in the same room as non vegans. It’s like going to a restraunt, declaring that you’re a vegan and asking the manager to remove all meat from the menu for everybody. People don’t like being told what to do.

    If it is somewhat of a victory for Russia its not the victory they wanted and its a worthless one.

    Russia has no shortage of resources and “industrial heartlands.” Stealing a few more from Ukraine and turning them into wastelands remains a stupid idea.

    Russia pulling down their pants in the face of the west only to demonstrate that they’ve been spoofing for a decade or two is a stupid idea.

    Convincing more of your neighbours you’re a scumbag so they decide to join NATO is a stupid idea.

    Shitting on a country whose people you actually claimed were your ethnically identical brothers is a stupid thing to do.

    Humiliating themselves economically and culturally is a stupid idea.

    Alienating all but the most useless and backward countries is a stupid idea.

      Yeah, that sums it up. Russia also has absolutely no end of *LAND* adding a bit of Ukraine to all that seems incredibly pointless.

        Do you not think from your own statement that maybe this isn’t a land grab? Maybe there’s more to the invasion than sky news are telling you, maybe blocking Russia Today wasn’t about stopping the spread of disinformation.

          Putin literally made a speech about wanting to reunite the old Soviet Republics with Russia as One People again, including Poland. Wonder if he’s got his eye on East Germany, too? Point, is, it’s hard to see how any of this counts as a successs, except in the sense that at some point things will hopefully settle down, Putin will look around and then decide what his victory conditions are based on that.

    Not sure many would have given them 100 minutes, let alone 100 days.

    Short of (the never going to happen) direct intervention of NATO there’s only ever going to be one ‘victor’ in this conflict, at least when looked at purely in the invader/invaded sense.

      Not sure about the “direct” Nato intervention – I think it depends more on what pace NATO decides to send arms, and how long both they and russia can realistically sustain the current level of fighting/artillery…

      As an armchair general, I don’t think Ukraine will get back all or much of the Donbas and Luhansk, but they might get everything else sans Crimea back and secured, even a lot of the Azoz coast.

      My Ukrainian and Romanian housemates from long ago used to say – during very late night/early morning drinking sessions – instead of Slainte, “Death to Putin, Death to the Russians”… let’s see what 10000 days brings…
