Jaysus that’s depressing.
First listed yesterday (3/4/16) at €600.
Battery humans.
That’s got to be a joke…Only hookers could afford to live there
Maybe it’s aimed at hookers.
*relax massage*
Fit 10 cousins in sleeping bags on the floor and its a steal. Ye just aren’t seeing the potential.
Anne has the right of it, I’d say.
Cough – how much?
But they suggest a solution – 1 couple in bedroom and 2 persons in living room. suitable for professionals.
Why did it go from 600 to 2000?
The curtains
I thought it was the defiant bed spread.
It’s the fridge of dispair, to keep the collected tears of a thousand regrets cool, maybe go some ways to avoid water charges, a great money saver, I suppose, but dignity has fu&ked right out that open window
800 a month in Berlin gets you a huge apartment and the night life to go with it, whereas here for 2 grand you get a one bedroom to share with 3 more people and all the scum of the earth under your window vomiting their brains out at 2am.
“1 bedroom apartment in Olympia Theatre, with view to street, in front of Dublin Castle- one in first floor and other in second – each one accommodates 4 – 1 couple in bedroom and 2 persons in living room. suitable for professionals”
“800 a month in Berlin gets you a huge apartment ”
+1
Estate agents and various property stakeholders here like to compare Dublin to London to justify the rents here… fupping London like.
aye, no hate for the Brits when they have to compare this failed toilet hole to a European Capital.
Salaries in Berlin are quite low, though (if you are fortunate enough to find a job).
true, but there is also excessive amount of housing stock and lots of housing stock coming online. Plus there abundance of space, the concensous that no one needs a garden when you want to live in a city and the fact there are several centres, meaning not everyone that lives in the city is travelling the exact same pin-point every morning. The best thing that could happen to the state of planning in dublin city centre is few tonnes of tnt.
As are salaries in Dublin by and large.
That is genuinely depressing. She’s probably inundated with inquiries too….
must be a blushirt landlord or an ff wan
Ah give it a rest.
Haha, dead right.
well bobby, both only care for the bankers & their property developer mates, the homeless or those who can’t afford homes are hated by BOTH parties
More true dat, in fairness, than believing the opposite…
And by posting the exact same thing in every single broadsheet article, you’ve become a parody of yourself. And people don’t take parodies seriously. So what you’ve done is made sure people ignore the actual message you want to make.
Dav is often right in what he says. You don’t share his opinions so you attempt to make fun of them.
Nah Bobby. It needs to be said repeatedly. FG and FF are one and the same scumbag, often greedy fat landlords with wads of cash in their slacks.
Irish in any case innit, patriots even.
good man dav
What a kip.
The ‘recovery’ continues.
Aye. It’s just part of a trend we’re seeing everywhere. We have to work more to get less but CEOs are getting more money than ever before so let’s celebrate in their reflected glory. 2k a month for a dank bedsit? Grand. I can feel good about that because, oh i dunno, Intel turned over big profits even though I don’t work there. The country is flying! Semi seriously, I like how half the 20+ photos aren’t even of the flat itself.
As if the expectation is that the desperate tenant(s) will spend all day/night looking out the crying window.
I heard the term crying chair for the first time last week. Is the meaning as obvious as I think it is? As in, would you generally find them in 1 bed flats in Rathmines?
Usually of 80s vintage.
See also, Small milk, veneer wardrobe, two ring hob, net curtain stuck to condensation on inside of single glazed aluminum window and swirly orange and brown carpet with many crusty patches.
Before you hyjacked broadsheet, it would have been a recurring theme on the site and it played a role in highlighting the terrible state of the studio apartment market in Dublin.
This was back when the average user was light-hearted, witty, well-intentioned or at least appreciated the comradry to be found here. I’m sure a broadsheet veteran like Clampers would agree.
Gawd, I miss those days
You’d have to be “feeling the recovery” to be able to afford that kip.
To be very fair , they deserve major kudos for the “Tight” pilow.
Super Apt !
That’s a very lovely curtain – it would make a great backdrop for practicing a one-man play
that is then performed by the amateur drama group of some college :D
Dunno about that shiny material for hiding the stains after a tug tho.
Just sayin’… not that I would of course…. me? wankin!
* stands up, outraged! …with one hand down the front of trackie bottoms, and the other in a fist raised above me head *
Never !
Good luck to you trying it while sharing that place with three other people.
I’ve often wondered who lived up above the Olympia and how much they paid. Now I know. Who in their right mind would pay that kind of money to live in a shoe box over that street? And what a filthy, grotty shoe box too. No sleep on weekends either due to the usual drunken mayhem on Dame St that goes on til the morning.
This is a 2 grand apartment in the heart of Dublin city. This is what passes for the top of the pile here? It looks like a squat!!!!
u seem to be missing the point … its not top of the pile, it IS a squat, and its massively overpriced. hence it being posted, to highlight the dire rental situation in dublin at the moment.
I would pay that much to be able to get a beer while still in bed. Is this not the convenience lifestyle millennials love?
But it has a fridge in every room!!!!…… oh wait…..
‘suit professionals’? .. professional what? gymnasts? this sort of thing will only get worse and worse as its not even on the government agenda to intervene. coz theyre all landlords themselves. like they need the fuppin cash with the salaries theyre on .. the greed displayed by some people in our country is obsene. really boils my wee-wee.
The sort of ‘professionals’ who when they have a night in put their feet down.
There’s no way they’ll get 2k for that
You’re all looking at this wrong, it’s a bargain as you’ll never have to pay money to hear an act in the Olympia again! Just think of the joy of Panto season . . .
Oh no it isn’t!
Oh No I Wont!
Also you can spit on touts.
Now I’m depressed.
“Oh no you aren’t!!”
dont forget guys, when u click the link and go to the daft ad, theres a facility to email the landlord. do as i did, and be sure to mail them informing them of their disgusting greed and how you feel about it.
I did, and it was a joy.
Suit “Professionals”
*cough*
Clearly aimed at the South American market. They generally share rooms, etc. in an effort to keep costs down since most only work part-time on their study visas in minimum wage / cash in hand type jobs (sweeping generalisation I know – apologies for that) Plus their savings in Reals / Bolivars / Pesos etc have taken a hit against the Euro as political poo goes down in Brazil, Venezuela and others.
€250-400 each for city centre would be norm for shared room (depending on number in room/apartment) would be fairly normal from what I’ve heard from Brazilian friends, this is at the pricier end of that!
€500 each for shared rooms, and folks in the living room vs. the €625 I pay for a large double room in a Georgian house with garden in D6. Huge disparity in Dublin as regards rent. Always going up though!
Have you seen what’s being charged for Celtic-Tiger era firetraps in the Docklands?
I know I’ve staged this idea before, and got boo-ed off the stage….but is there anything to be said for Dublin-weighting of salaries so players can afford these dramatic rents? Otherwise there’s not a dry eye in the seats…the crying seats.
there is a lot be said for it….but it won’t happen
No, the landlords need to be prevented from exploiting people not rewarded with 2,000 a month for kips like this.
Ideal for a Pimp and a couple of Ho’s.
Make it rain biatches!
Has been let/withdrawn.
Hopefully withdrawn with extreme prejudice.
Dunno what yiz are all complaining about…it’s within shouting distance of Iskanders. …
Advert has been withdrawn. Well done Broadsheet. Keep up the vigilant work.
There might be something to be said for those professionally-run ‘vulture funds’ after all.
Vulture funds aren’t property management companies..
Who do you think they get to take care of their properties?
Property management companies can exist without Vulture funds.
Fleecing of tenants still happens through property management companies.
Property has been withdrawn, hopefully because of the incredulity here or else some poor fool must have taken it.
Loving the property at 15 Essex Street for €875 per week. A double bed and a single bed which look remarkably the same size or double bed would fit two anorexics.

and where it is .. prepare to never sleep ever again.
That’s more likely a short-let, tourist apartment. And a decent enough one at that. Just that the owner hasn’t heard of Airbnb yet.
