So goading is the new way to attract an audience?
How delightfully childish of the organisers.
Are there rusks and warm milk to follow?
bitter blushirt tears, yummy
Are you accusing the poster or the organisers of crying blueahirt tears?
Come on little man, use your words and you too can get your meaning across.
Context and clarity in writing are a great help for your audience.
Blushirt, shill, nah! nah! Very bad, very bad
+1 dav,
-1 heronimous
Bull ploppers, as usual.
It was wonderful to get the €100 grant without paying a cent in charges.
eh,,, weren’t the charges partially doing to stop the waste by patching up the leaks?
The Publicity4Ogle movement keep changing the goalposts on what they’re against.
First they were against charges, then against Irish Water, then against DOB, then against supposed privatization, now against wastage…
Whatever they can use to whip people into a frenzy and get a few votes out of it.
Once again your whining Kieran, the odour of sour grapes off you is daily at this stage..
What exactly do you mean by sour grapes here?
It doesn’t seem to have a context.
Source grapes over Hillary, sour grapes over the victory of right2water, source grapes over homesweethome.. etc etc..
*sour*
Blah blah blah always so negative and contrarian
Kieran, you are not a “Nice Young Chap” you are a right wing shill and a detriment to this country. Stay where you are, we beg you, we have an over supply of you already. :-(
So now I’m some kind of enemy of the people because I disagree with your political position and don’t worship at the alter of Ogle and Murphy?
Have some perspective.
I’ve got a whole lot of perspective, Kieran. I’ve been a PAYE worker since the age of sixteen (go on, have a pop about my ‘lack of ambition’ in the 1960’s when you had to work to eat. Have another hearty chuckle about the five recessions I’ve lived through. I can’t wait for your insights on all of that – plus your analysis of the electoral choices available to me from the late sixties to the present days. You’ve been vocal enough about “the wrinklies and the crumblies ‘ (who are apparently all gobs!!te) who have brought the country down. Enlighten us Great Guru, PLEASE.
Didn’t know I was to blame for everything that happened to you and Ireland.
Enjoy your anti-Kieran march tomorrow. Take pictures!
Nobody is “anti Kieran”, but anybody is entitled to be against the glib, superficial “I’m alright” comments of you and your ilk. There are actually other points of view which have some validity. No need to be so precious.
wouldn’t it be smarter to fix the leaks first to then see if there us much waste? turns out we do not waste water, save for the leaks.
Who’d pay to fix the leaks?
Countries routinely borrow for infrastructure projects, it’s a standard.
Interesting. Why didn’t we bloody well do it before now, so?!?
Every country in the known world borrows for important infrastructure. You are so right.
District meters were said suitable for leak discoveries. Cheaper to install – fewer of them. Dat could be stage 1. Leaks found-fixed – move on to private metering at a justified not-for-profit rate, that could be stage 2.
“The key item we heard from Scottish Water and Welsh Water last week was that it is not necessary to have domestic water meters to find leaks in people’s homes, which is the perception that existed. Can the witnesses confirm that is the case and that individual leaks in households can be found through district metering and the mechanisms that exist in sonar technology for finding where the water is leaking?”
“The reality of normal leak detection is one would want one’s operators to be primarily finding leaks on the public system, which is where the great bulk of leakage exists.”
Hiring seniors for Irish Water is another sad story and for another time.
Oh yeah, once moved to stage 2 – personal taxation reduced because funding is topped up through private metering. It’s not like preparing a space mission, it’s a fecking basic administration and planning! Granted, good administrated are protected species on our island.
Presumably they mean the waste of money as well as the waste of water, which is a fine sentiment, I just don’t see how the anti-water charge crowd are going to achieve anything about either. If they focused more on the waste of money and on ways of solving the more fundamental problems of venality and incompetence I’d be more supportive – but this is like objecting to wastage in the health service by shutting down hospitals.
Thanks. Nigel. Please set out HOW we do that. and you have my word, I’ll get on it straight away. Jesus wept.
Seriously Nigel, I want to hear what the populace can do.
It’s not a “victory for the people.” It’s ‘s victory for idiots. Idiots who want the public to still pay for water, as we’ve always done, through taxation, but have no means to monitor and incentives the management of this resource. It’s basically a victory for idiots who like being idiots but hate the environment.
You’re partially right, I think Justin. On the other hand, I didn’t pay *purely* because Phil Hogan and his blustering, bullying carry-on. I’m happy to pay for water, honestly, but i was fupped if I was gonna pay into a scheme overseen by that party, in that manner, and so refusing to pay was the only way I could register my dissatisfaction.
I don’t think i’m alone in this either.
yup. I’m one of those I guess.
for me this is a battle of ideology. and I think FG have an ideology conflict with the majority of people in this country which they’re about to find out about come next GE. I have no interest in supporting an Irish Tory party or its having its business ideas shoved down my throat. anytime I hear Coveney or Varadwankar or Cowen on the radio all I hear is lies and fakery and scheming and misdirection. It’s actually getting harder to tell the difference anymore between Callans Kicks and reality.
I understand water isn’t free like air…I would pay and I don’t mind how that funding happens be it property tax or general tax or green shield fupping stamps…but it will never ever ever be via sneaky IW and whatever vehicle/morkeshing spin they try next.
I think it should be in public control and NOT private enterprise & I want it written into the constitution…so for me all this horsesht agreement stuff to prop up FG being argued out now is a mere sideshow. I don’t see any moves to prevent its privatisation from any of the main protagonists bar the original right 2 water campaign who called it from day #1
I’ll be there tomorrow. With a it of luck there’ll be a couple of hundred of us. eh FG? ;)
have a nice weekend everyone
Martco, that is the very essence of the protest, and you set it forth so clearly. How then can certain people claim not to ‘understand’ what this is about? Such refusal to grasp the essentials can only be wilful, and that makes me sad. It’s a bit like the little sneaky lads who allied themselves with the school bully, so someone else would get the kicking – but not them. Gombeenism appears to be a national failing :-(
A victory for those who could not pay these unjust charges. A victory for those who did not want to see our water privatised.
There’s loads of idiots out there Justin. You wouldn’t believe the amount of idiots who want to tell women what with their own bodies
What to do
What has any of that to do with water and water charges?
Oh, newsjustin, you are so clever. Everybody else is an idiot – please lead us, and instruct us in New and Exciting ways to punish women for being women. A breathless country awaits your words.
Why change the subject?
Really smooth answer. I’m sure everybody will be impressed.
Is that poster an oxymoron?
Kills me the way the Right2water keeps implying it should be free apart from being paid through “general taxation” which means the squeezed middle. Even the UN recognises it should be charged for…
On 28 July 2010, through Resolution 64/292, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water and sanitation and acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realisation of all human rights. The Resolution calls upon States and international organisations to provide financial resources, help capacity-building and technology transfer to help countries, in particular developing countries, to provide safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all.
obviously it’s not free and never was free…if I understand your comment.
What a very sad and misguided comment. JD. your parents have my sympathyw.
Bit of sour grapes around the place. See you on the March, OP.
Blueshight HQ dog whistle being blown to summon acolytes to the Fraperoom.
Go go Dour Rangers!
+1 Daisy..
I’d vote for public ownership no probs but apart from the usual FG / Tory / DOB hyperbole, is there any actual evidence that the plan was to privatise IW ?
Didn’t hear John “preposterous” Ryan and chums offer any last night.
Genuinely interested.
What did you expect to hear out of those duffers?
Blah blah blah rubbish once again from Steve and his precious right-wing cult..
Sour grapes
Yes. It was clearly set out on IW ‘s own website at the outset. When people saw what was proposed, and became enraged, these references became “Redacted”. However, the intent and the principal aims remain unchanged – merely hidden.
Where on the website??
What reference to privatisation?
Just eff off and look at the website yourself – ask your buddies what was removed from the website. How am I to post what was removed years ago, but was seen by thousands of people. In other words, stick your head up a dead bear’s bum, Steve, you Government lackey.
Surely you must remember the reference? Don’t need a cached hyperlink or anything.
Or is fake news? Obama wiretapped me – I swear.
Disappointing to see ye play the man with the above. Murphy , gannon etc must be proud.
Enjoy the march tomorrow
“Remember the reference”, years later? A reference to phrases since removed? If you were interested why didn’t you look at the website at the time, which informed us that our PPS numbers were a marketable asset? You now want to nitpick? Don’t annoy me, I’m a real person.
Lol the whataboutery….privatisation…PPS numbers. Keep going :)
The next time you go to a dentist or a opticians and they ask you for your PPS number for your own tax relief make sure you tell them where to go -coz DOB might get it!!!
Steve this is the last time I’ll waste even one second on you – you’re fooling nobody – alles claar?
The tax base has again been whittled down to the level Bertie had it in 2008 when the property collapse pitched us into a €200 billion hole as the transaction taxes went up on a puff of smoke.
When the Brexit and Trump sh*tstorms finally arrive and wallop the economy and the narrow tax base now based solely on income and corporation receipts disappears in a flash, be sure to remember Right2Populism and thank them appropriately.
Op Ill see you there
So will I Phil. I confess, however, that I’ve become very disappointed at the ‘whataboutery’ and the wilful ignorance of some who post here. It really bodes very ill for the future. If these people, who have the same access to the internet as everyone else, can’t get what this is all about – I despair.
Or maybe, just maybe, some people just don’t agree with you.
…ah here Kieran…please go back to NYC…you may well be young…you might even be a chap…but nice you ain’t…
Still in New York, but thanks!
…tell your auntie judy I was asking for her…not…
how come farmers aren’t protesting everyday about water charges, or anyone else that lives in the country and has to pay for a group scheme or the thousands of euro for a well. Why should my tax pay for your water when i’m paying for my own water..and no, there isn’t a grant or a tax rebate.
Yeah How Come….. :-D, :-D you are so sad, you are actually funny. FAIL.
