Mr Johnson was answering questions from the DUP’s Ian Paisley who asked what he was going to do when he realises the EU, as Mr Paisley said, will do nothing to help Northern Ireland.
Mr Johnson said he “utterly shares the frustration” of how the EU Commission seemed to call to use the protocol in such a way as to “impose a border contrary to the spirit of the Good Friday Agreement.
He said: “we will do everything we need to do to, whether legislatively or indeed by invoking Article 16 of the protocol to ensure that there is no barrier down the Irish Sea” and businesses can continue “unfettered between Northern Ireland and the rest of this country”.

there wouldn’t be many political feats around the globe to match a reunification of Ireland, would there? plus a massive anchor off their balance sheet. Glory and Money. but the clock is ticking.
already this so-called reunification referendum has slowly crept into our vernacular – I never heard so much as a peep about it 5 years ago (and I still have no interest in processing it in any particular way) but yet here it is now in almost daily mention foisted on us.
however nothing serious could ever happen without some strife narrative to allow politicians to construct scaffolding for the thing they’re about to do and provide themselves the bit of justification shielding from the “difficult choices” they’d have to make….they really need a bit of strife to solve….”unfortunately” for them the troubles are fading fast for these up and coming generations (tick tock) many of whom are entirely sensible and want to carry on in a NI that rolls along fairly nicely – except for the inconvenient problem that half the jobs up there are UK civil service!
so I think this Brexit impasse now is very suitable for them to get that bit of strife needed going in order to catalyse the entire idea.
