This afternoon.
Via CNN:
Among the steps the President will take is signing an executive order requiring all federal workers be vaccinated against Covid-19, with no option of being regularly tested to opt out of the requirement, according to a source familiar with the plans.
The President will also sign an executive order directing the same standard be extended to employees of contractors who do business with the federal government. The Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Indian Health Service and National Institutes of Health will also complete their previously announced vaccination requirements, which the White House estimates covers 2.5 million workers.

🦸♂️ ❓ Have you got ‘superhuman immunity’?
💉 Researchers have discovered that getting double-jabbed after Covid infection may turbo-charge the immune system – and even provide a lasting defence against future variantshttps://t.co/7t7XvK3iwk— The Telegraph (@Telegraph) September 9, 2021

Good on ‘im…
Clever.
Since Republicans are more vaccine-hesitant than Democrats he will get rid of a big chunk of Republicans.
I wonder are the Supreme Court all jabbed? And will it apply to them?
All the Republicans politcians (and TV talking heads) who are feeding anti-vaxx sentiment are generally vaccinated themselves. Republicans hate employee protections and hate government workers, but that won’t stop them screaming about it.
Meh…
In other more interesting news, the trailer for the new Matrix film is out. ;-)

A very John Wick buzz and heavy on the blue pill references…
Better get me some of that “superhuman immunity” too
That does look pretty good, I didnt know there was a new Matrix movie coming. I’m glad Keanu is still the lead. He was excellent in the John Wicks.
The man looks savage for his age – turned 57 last week. 50 feckin 7!!!
I hope it’s good. But I don’t hold much hope tbh
I expect it to be nostalgia filled pants, but I probably still go check it out. ;)
Keanu is 5 months younger than Nigel Farage.
I don’t have a point to make, it’s just an amusing fact.

Keanu Reeves is a time traveller. Trufax
Did he not setup a crowd fund for the precious once everyone went into lockdown?
The same who are now not prepared to take to the streets despite being fully paid up members of Sinn Féin?
Fair enough. If you’re not going to be grow-up about vaccines then back to the playground with ya.
If only people had been grown up enough to not be manipulated and conned into taking something that hadn’t even gone through animal trials, but alas that ship has sailed for most.

What about the people who can’t get vaccinated due to health conditions? Or for religious reasons? If they get fired I’d assume (hope?) that will be a very quick court case…
It’d be weird of there wasn’t an exemption for people who can’t, but what religion has doctrines forbidding vaccines? Jehovah’s Witnesss?
Christian Scientists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Amish and Scientologists off the top of my head. Lots of Mormons aren’t too hot on modern medicine either.
Theres been no mention of an exemption for religious reasons. But if there is an exemption put in, then whats to stop anti-vaxxers from simply claiming to be part of a religion that opposes the vaccine? It would be almost impossible to disprove that.
Its a bit of a catch-22 really – either a very likely illegal order that goes against certain people’s religion, or else an order with such a big loophole that anyone who wants to can get around it, making the whole thing rather pointless.
I could be wrong but I think the US government has fairly sweeping powers when it comes to federal workers, and I suspect the burden of establishing the grounds for a religious exemption will be on the person looking for it, you can’t just declare yourself a Jedi with a bloodstream full of midchlorians that can fight off covid with the power of the Force.
Catholics might have issue with the use of fetal cell lines (cells grown in a laboratory based on aborted fetal cells), although Irish Catholics and the Pope seem OK with it.
My knowledge of America is pretty limited, but as far as I know the 1st amendment gives religious freedom etc and the 14th says you can’t be discriminated against for that religion
So could be interesting.
But you have to establish that the religion exists, that you are part of it, and that its teachings forbid vaccinations – these are not trivial things; they have to meet set standards of proof. I don’t think it’s the gaping loophole people seem to think it is.
Well, as usual when it comes to America – I don’t care. I treat it like a reality TV show or fast food. Fine on occasion.
Too many people here are obsessed with the place… it’s a fuppin madhouse.
“When you’re born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front row seat.” GC
Also vegans where animal testing occurred?
It will be very interesting to see what the U.S. Supreme Court thinks of this proposal.
We are certainly living in interesting times.
And you can be certain it will go all the way to it.
The issue here is injuries and whiter they will now fall under the workplace category. If someone was forced to take a vaccine in order to keep their job and then became sick- or worse- is the employer liable?
IMO they should be, but justice and law are not necessarily the same thing.
There is a massive difference between those who cannot get vaccinated for medical reasons and those who believe in ancient books of fairytales!
Or who believe in reviewing medium and long term safety data more like.
Or who believe horse wormer will cure them.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-0_73NWEAQwr2E?format=jpg&name=medium
SOQ, this data is being continually being reviewed. In the mean time, would you prefer that you and your loved ones die? Or is that a “sacrifice” that is worth paying for your your believe in fairytales of yore?
There is no medium or long term data to be reviewed at this stage- that is fact. People can make their own minds up but I do find it disdainful to dismiss people’s concerns- especially when it comes to young people who have their whole lives in front of them.
Not all experts agree on the safety of these vaccines and some of the predictions are absolutely dire. I hope they are wrong- genuinely- but even what happens if they are not?
And also, vaccine remorse is already a thing- especially as it now transpires that people can be just as infectious and the efficacy is nowhere near what was promised.
Especially when those who believe in fairytales contribute to most of the bloodshed in this world.
I think you’ll find it’s those who believe in the petrodollar contribute most of the bloodshed in this world.
Fairytales are just a convenient excuse
Agreed.
+ 1
But these are still the reasons used and believed by people.
If I told you the war in Iraq was about sandals (& the quirks of Iraqi foot fashion) – would that mean sandals are actually to blame? It could be used as a scapegoating reason, it doesnt mean that people who believe sandals are haram contributed to the bloodshed – it was clearly oil & money.
The reason given to the masses is a red herring – it could be anything and most would still go along with it. Sure in Afghanistan it was retribution for 9/11? Despite the hijackers being Saudis
Again, I agree. I’m just pointing out that religion is not an excuse. I also have many questions about 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Somehow, I think Biden would sign anything, anytime and be oblivious to what it was.
And Trump didn’t? Cop on.
trump was unfortunately, quite cognitive, whereas with Biden its clear his mental state is waning and his handlers are running the show.
I never thought it was as bad as people let on until I started watching videos of Biden speeches and Q&As, its like someone wandered out of the nursing home.
To think this is the leader of the free world – that Sanders didnt get the nod shows you all you need to know about US politics.
Maybe due to his use of Adveral/Cocaine?
I don’t actually, as per personal autonomy vis the current situation. Tax cuts for the rich? Don’t make me laugh, both sides are firmly in the pockets of the elite. Who repealed Glass/Saegal, it wasn’t a republican.
Nothing to cop on about. The choices for US president are pretty dismal.
It’s all a show with both parties being heavily compromised. Republicans being a little more trustworthy (If someone told me I’d be typing that a year ago, I’d have flat out refused to believe it)
What like making abortion illegal after 6 weeks, making tax cuts for the richest, supporting hill-billy fascists in the police killing people and violently storming the government? Me thinks you need to think about things a little more.
Have you actually watched/listened to Trump? I have never heard someone so deranged. Yes, I would love Bernie to be president, but would you actually prefer Trump to be still president? I have always found US politics to be which is the lesser of two evils.
“Bernie to be president,”
“you actually prefer Trump to be still president?”
I know it’s just a little thing (and I know you’re only doing it as shorthand Ciarán – not having a go at you), but it really galls me when someone refers to the US President as just “President”
RTE do it ALL the time – on the fecking news too.
He’s not our elfin president and he’s not president of the feckin world.
Seriously though, watch it on the Irish news. Once you see it – you’ll see it all the time :-)
Yes, Micko. I was using “shorthand”. I certainly wasn’t referring to Micky-D. The discussion was about the president of the USA. I watch news from various sources from all over this poo world of ours and was not referring to him as “president of the feckin world”.
Ah sure, no harm no foul… it’s all a bit much sometimes though. Little America we are now.
Left, right, black, white, straight, queer, jabbed, unvax’d sure whatever yer havin boys & girls.
I love the chats and back & forth oneupmanship as much as the rest on here ;p
But, I sometimes watch this fellas YT channel and think it might be nice to follow suit.
English lad who bought a run down cottage in the west of Ireland. Lives off the land as much as he can while restoring the cottage and doesn’t get bothered by all this crap it seems.
He’s a bit up his own bum at times, but nice lifestyle all the same…. ;-)

I’m trying to convince himself to move west and get as off the grid as humanly possible comfortably, I’m mad to get back to growing my own veg, had an allotment outside Paris…I grow a rather tasty salade
An allotment sounds nice alright. It would be a hard move to make to the west to do it I think. You have to be super dedicated.
Always amazes me that for all our technology and all we have in the west, if we lost it all tomorrow from an attack or a natural disaster or whatever, there’s people in parts of the world who live off the land who wouldn’t even bat an eyelid.
Kinda comforting actually.
Ah an allotment! Funny story, if I may.
We used to have an allotment up the back of Johnnie Fox’s around 2010.
There were about 50 plots, got some great stuff growing.
Around that time in 2010 or so, we had that insane snowstorm. The whole mountain was basically impassible for a couple of weeks.
When we finally saw the thaw we ventured up to see what state the place was in.
Well, it appears that the wildlife had quite the feast with all the prolonged tranquillity. Everyone’s crops were stripped completely. I mean the entire place was stripped bare. You could see teeth marks on all the stalks, not a carrot to be had…
Except brussel sprouts. Everyone’s sprouts were just fine and dandy.
Jasper had never eaten a sprout up to that point. I’ve found them rather delicious ever since.
Try the “way out west blow-in blog” on YT.
excellent video’s and loads of different subjects covered.
