Nothing To Declare

at

This afternoon.

Via RTÉ News:

The Cabinet has agreed new travel rules which would see the requirement for vaccinated passengers to have a negative Covid-19 test dropped.

However, unvaccinated travellers would be required to show a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arrival.

The Government moved to require all passengers to have a negative test for the virus when the Omicron variant of Covid-19 first emerged.

However, now that it is the dominant variant in Ireland, the Government has dropped that requirement for vaccinated passengers, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said today.

Given that vaccinated are spreading faster that butter- what scientific rationale is there for not testing them?

They really are making it up as they go along now.

Would it not be valuable to keep testing and publish the number of people who are NOT positive (all four of them)?

  2. Cui Bono?

It should be obvious by now to everyone that it has nothing to do with health and everything to do with coercing everyone into accepting the vaccine passport system.

It’s way more obvious that the government are utterly desperate to keep international travel open as much as they can get away with.

Requiring vaccinated provide negative PCR can hardly be claimed to stop people travelling. Though, it does expose the fact that they clearly do not care about vaccinated people spreading the virus when travelling. This is always has been about the pass itself and its adoption by society.

        1. SOQ

I think that is becoming pretty obvious now Matty- there is absolutely no reason for such discrimination.

Mehole confirmed today that a booster will eventually be required for entrance to pubs and clubs.

“ Asked today whether a booster dose will soon be required to enter pubs, restaurants and other indoor venues in Ireland, Martin said this WILL happen but not in the short-term

“In the fullness of time yes, but not shorter than that. I think the HSE are now working on including the booster within the vaccination record and cert”

So emmm vax passes are not temporary then?

      But “there’s a pandemic on” – forever.

Since most people are OK with getting vaccines and boosters it’s only an inconvenience to a small coterie of contrarians like yourself. The real losers are people who can’t get vaccinated and they’re probably more aware of the fact that they’re threatened by a virulent disease not a booster pass at a pub. Because there’s a pandemic on.

“ Since most people are OK with getting vaccines and boosters”. Oh are they now?

I’d say a few people here might disagree with you now. Most normal people didn’t sign up for a bloody Pfizer subscription service.

And no inconvenience Nidge, borrowed pass from friends remember? So no inconvenience for moi.

Plus, we actually got the Covids over Christmas again. miraculously – we are still alive and unvaccinated – shock horror :-o

We can get our legit recovery certs for travel abroad (or pub use) if we feel like it.

Maybe, I’ll just get infected every six months or so…

          1. Nigel

Yes, very few would disagree with it.

And of course, if lying and fraud are okay with you, you’ll be fine.

If only the people who got covid and died could use their recovery certs.

What are you saying Nigel? I don’t understand.
Are you saying the unvaccinated people are going around lording it up and killing people as they go?

Lying and fraud is associated with this government and their corrupt corporate cronies. Which kind of sounds like you tbh

          3. Micko

Oh no Nigey. No fraud required now.

I’m legit now pal.. (In fact, most scientists would say better, stronger, faster etc) :-)

I’m exactly like you now – We both now have a pass for the next 6 months.

            Pints?

          4. Nigel

I’m glad you got through your second dose of covid ok. Pity it only deepend your survivor bias.

          5. Micko

And I’m glad you got through your recent booster ok too.

How many more until you get a free latte?

          6. Nigel

            ‘What are you saying Nigel?’

It was a joke based on previous comments Micko made about bullying his way past lowly waiting staff and contemplating getting a fake vax pass.

We have the second highest per capita rate of any country in the world right now, and omnicron is completely dominant – 95%+ of cases. It makes no sense testing anyone coming in, theres nothing to be kept out.

Statistically any arrival already has lower odds of having covid today than any person in Ireland.

This is fantastic news, flights in out were half empty,Dublin is in the worst shape I’ve seen it,dark empty stores everywhere.

      1. Johnny

…had few swims off Vico Baths, city center looking a bit grim, but lots nice options for bite after a dip.
