A professionally trained musician from Naas, County Kildare, Blaithin plays a headline show tonight in Dublin’s Whelan’s of Wexford Street accompanied by a string quartet.

This is old-school songcraft that will never go out of fashion.
The Wedding Present begin their Irish tour tonight in Cork’s Cyprus Avenue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal ‘Bizarro’ album, which they’ll be playing in full.
Although singer Dave Gedge is the only surviving member of the Leeds-formed group from 1989, the Weddoes remain one of the best live bands on the planet.
The tour continues on Friday night in Limerick Dolan’s Warehouse; Saturday in Dublin Academy; and Sunday in Belfast Empire Music Hall.
Meanwhile, there’s a special one-off screening of ‘Something Left Behind’ – a new documentary about the band’s 1987 masterpiece ‘George Best’ – in Dublin’s IFI cinema on Saturday afternoon at 4.30pm.

Wexford siblings Cillian and Lorcan Byrne follow their 2016 EP ‘Blues In Red’ with a highly atmospheric shot of gothic r’n’b humming with passion and intensity. Take note, too, of Darragh Nolan’s impressively moody production.

“Sometimes we’re too quick to disregard and chase the mystery up out of our lives.”

The outdoor painting festival runs from the 17 to 23 June and will host paint outs (as above), workshops and daily competitions.
This is the ideal opportunity for artists to learn from the masters and as with the previous years the focus is enjoying Fingal’s beautiful scenery, making friends and painting outdoors.

Combining the talents of Noelie McDonnell, Noriana Kennedy and Nicola Joyce, The Whileaways have just released this slow-burning gem from last year’s album ‘From What We Made’.
The gentle harmonies and subtle banjo add to the soul-searching vocals to create a mini treasure.
You can catch them live in Dublin’s Lost Lane on June 13.
Nick says: Stay a While.
