An incredibly contemporary-looking and rather chilling colourised photo of the would-be assassin Lewis Powell following his arrest in 1865.
Powell – who conspired with John Wilkes Booth to kill President Lincoln – attempted to kill Secretary of State William H. Seward, which he failed to do, despite his brutal best efforts.

Spotted at a restaurant in Richmond Virginia, the star of the upcoming Speilberg biopic is rumoured to have been in character (complete with accent) since March and so committed to the role that his name doesn’t even appear on the call sheet.
