Caroline Murphy, niece of Samuel Beckett, helping launch a commemorative bench/plaque erected by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to her late uncle in Foxrock village, Co Dublin yesterday.
Beckett lived in Cooldrinagh, Kerrymount Avenue, Foxrock until 1927.

Balloon Bench by Japanese design collective h220430. Inspired by the feeling of floating felt by the main character in the 1953 French movie, “Le Ballon Rouge”.
The ‘floating’ illusion is created by suspending the bench from the ceiling by four anchors concealed by the balloon shapes. Which also light up.
The ad agency DDB Auckland altered benches to press an advertisement for New Zealand clothing chain Superette into the bare legs of sitters.
Now that’s branding.
