Call Parade – an ongoing public art project on the streets of São Paulo in Brazil gives 100 artists a free hand to transform the hooded payphone booths of the city into whatever they see fit. The photos above were taken by Brazilian photographer Marianne Borgomani who sez:
When I lived in Sao Paulo every phone booth (whenever I needed one) were either completely useless or just vandalized. When VIVO (phone carrier) took over the Spanish Telefonica they came up with the Call Parade Project and yesterday I was in awe: when art interacts with people, people respect it. As a result, neat and functional phone booths.
Sure you’d nearly ditch the mobile on the strength of it.
