What you may need to know:

1.
First came Russell Crowe as Noah (2014)… Now Christian Bale is Moses!

2.
It’s directed by Ridley Scott. That used to mean something, kids.

3. That’s Aussie actor Joel Edgerton as Egyptian pharoah Rhamses. Seriously.

4. Look! It’s Egyptian Sigourney Weaver!

5. It co-stars John ‘Nobody fucks with the Jesus’ Turturro, ideally channelling his role from The Big Lebowski (1998).

6.
It also stars Aaron ‘Jessie Pinkman’ Paul – presumably absent from the trailer to avoid further hilarity, following Egyptian Sigourney Weaver – and Ben Kingsley. Inevitably.

7. Ridley’s planning a King David movie next. GET FASSBENDER!

8. Broadsheet Prognosis: Needs musical numbers.

Release Date: December

Thanks John Gallen

horrible-bosses-2-christoph-waltz-chris-pine-600x400

What you may need to know:

1. Classic rule of ill-advised sequels: do exactly the same thing all over again

2. Remember the first Horrible Bosses (2011)? Barely? Colin Farrell’s combover stole the show.

3. That said, Jamie Foxx’s character had the greatest name in recent movie history.

4. New baddies: Christoph Waltz and Chris ‘Craptain Kirk’ Pine.

5. Best YouTube comment: ‘0:42 seconds in, it shows Jamie Foxx drinking through a straw and they put a sound effect of an empty glass even though his drink is full…what the hell is the point of that?’

6. Rachel from Friends inviting men to pee on her = comedy gold.

Release Date: Not Soon Enough

jimi

What you may need to know.

1. Hey ya! Andre 3000 is Jimi Hendrix! Just in time for that Outkast reunion at Electric Picnic, too.

2. Filmed in Dublin and Bray last year. Swinging ’60s London looks at lot like Dame Lane @ ’27.

3. It’s written and directed by John Ridley, who won an Oscar for penning 12 Years A Slave (2013).

4. The Hendrix estate wouldn’t let them use any of Jimi’s compositions. So no Purple Haze, for starters.

5. Broadsheet Prognosis: Groovy, baby.

Release Date: Autumn

What you may need to know:

1. Bill Murray doesn’t do a proper starring role all that often.

2. Being Bill Murray, however, is a full-time job. Earlier this year he
did one of the great Reddit AMAs.

3. Nice to see Chris O’Dowd, in his first Irish priest role.

4. The original Ghostbusters is THIRTY YEARS OLD this year. We hear it’s
getting a re-release later this year. Murray’s non involvement with
Ghostbusters III is an epic saga unto itself.

5. The movie has nothing to do with the other St. Vincent.

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Little Miss Rushmore

Release Date: Winter

4. It’s twenty-five years since Brad broke out in Thelma & Louise (1991). He has an Oscar for producing 12 Years A Slave (2013). Next up: another World War Z movie.

5. Broadsheet Prognosis: War is bad. That said, tank battles are cool.

Release Date: Winter

3. This reboot is brought to you by wrestling entertainment empire the WWE, and features WWE superstar Dylan ‘Hornswoggle’ Postl.

5. The true masterpiece, however, is 2000’s Leprechaun In The Hood, starring Ice T

6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Now THAT’S what we call an Irish movie.

What you may need to know

1. Robert Downey Jr takes a break from starring in megabudget franchise
pics to star in THE MOST GENERIC ‘QUALITY’ HOLLYWOOD MOVIE EVER.

2. 20 years ago, this might have starred Dennis Quaid and Gene Hackman.

3. It’s easy to forget that 10 years ago, RDJ was considered a uninsurable liability, a mercurial talent who had pretty much squandered his shot at stardom.

4. They forgot to add ‘From the director of Fred Claus (2007) and The Change-Up (2011)’.

5. Robert Duvall has had the crusty old bastard thing down pat for the last quarter century plus.

6. Billy-Bob Thornton POWER. How good is he in [telly’s] Fargo?

7. Broadsheet Prognosis: You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll look forward
to Avengers 2.
