Hi folks – here’s a Formula One video I took for you up close at College Green [Dublin] earlier. Jenson Button half-spins his Formula One McLaren and performs a practice start.

Last video by Rob Griffin.

Nina adds:

Just spotted this guy watching the F1 racing from the roof. He’s definitely got a good view…

And, from Darren Devereux…
Jenson Button walking “back to the pit after his car went on fire outside the Anglo Building……. There’s probably a joke here somewhere but I can’t think of one.”

From Eimear O’Connor:

A number of roads in the city centre will be closed for prolonged periods over the course of the bank holiday weekend to facilitate the set up of the city track, the event itself and the dismantling of the track.

Dublin’s transformation from a cityscape into race track will be completed between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The city track starts at the Convention Centre Dublin on North Wall Quay, continues onto Customs House Quay before crossing Butt Bridge, chicanes at D’Olier Street, zips past College Green and the Central Bank on Dame Street before reaching O’Connell Bridge.

Apparently, a ‘first-time-ever’ moment for you here.

Lucas di Grassi, Pirelli’s official test driver, straps an eye-level camera to his helmet and does a lap of the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Sez he (with not a little understatement):

‘I had to drive with only one eye open as the camera was blocking my other eye, quite tricky”

A lap of the F1 Korean International Circuit made by Fernando Alonso recreated by Mario “Mustruendor” Torrado on his Gibson X-plorer. Sez he:

The Korea International Circuit has an easy to play first sector, with long straights and strong brakings, and some interesting second and third sectors with nice and melodic utilization of all gears. I must remark the corners 11, 12 and 13, very difficult to learn and play on the guitar, which took me most of the practise time.
