Dog Pound.

Frank Kelly at his best in a short film written by 2010 Hennessy New Irish Writer Madeleine D’arcy. ‘Dog Pound’ is essentially a monologue filmed in Kehoe’s pub [South Anne Street, Dublin] that captures that unique relationship between a patron and his barman [played by actual Kehoe’s barman – and Russell Crowe chum – Ian Murray]. The film has been nominated in the Galway Film Fleadh.

Set in  Dublin, 1981 and featuring:
Nuala – electronics whizz at Reilly Laboratories and glamorous woman about town.
Donnchadh – her egomaniacal Gaeilgóir poet flatmate.
And Rita – an ex-camogie fiend with a penchant for mixing pop socks and sandals.

The makers say:

We’ve already shot the film on very little budget after developing the script for more than two years. Now, we need to raise the last amount of funding for post-production costs – getting the final edit done and paying for a sound mix and colour grading. There’s also the cost of submitting the film to festivals….

An elegant two minute short by Irish photographer Linda Brownlee, part of an ongoing series entitled ‘Limber Notes’.

It’s a portrait of a lady, Isabelle Mathews, who loves to dance. Narrated by her besotted husband Doug.
