By JP Keating who sez:

It’s a lovely German nun I met in Ballsbridge [Dublin] during the Eucharistic Congress a couple of weeks ago. She was talking to a monk at the time and I was waiting for my friend to finish a sandwich so I went over for a chat. I’ve always wanted to take a nun’s portrait and she was a joy. She said she would pray for me but its probably too late to be honest.

Le Cool Dublin

Inspired by the Liffey, Ulysses and featuring a Grecian cyclops.

By Stephen Maurice Graham who sez:

When I was in Dublin last weekend I noticed that the Liffey was called An Life in Irish and it gave me this strange image of literally living in the river, surrounded by furniture.  I had also popped into the National Gallery and saw a small show of artwork which was relating to James Joyce which in turn made me think on Ulysses and along with Bloomsday that weekend it gave rise to the Grecian cyclops figure steering her way through her belongings!

It’s the damn hipster cycling issue.

Finally.

Cover by Stephen Maurice Graham who sez:

I wanted the cover to be inviting, welcoming the reader into the rest of the cycling issue and thought a stylised shop front might be fun to draw.

Le Cool Dublin (Cycling Issue)

Stephen will be launching an exhibition of his work in the Bernard Shaw, Richmond Street, tomorrow (details here)

For the day what’s in it.

By Banksyian prankster ADW who sez:

I painted a similar piece a while back on an N7 motorway bridge and was never totally happy with the outcome. The image got rehashed, improved and repainted in Portobello. This wall has been the home to a few of my street pieces over the last few years.

Le Cool Dublin

By design siblings The Project Twins who say:

As Le Cool is curating Pivot Dublin for the next two weeks we wanted to create an image to highlight this. The cover represents this collaboration and the idea of two people working together. We illustrated two characters under the same thinking hat. They also share a pencil, sharpened at both ends.

Le Cool Dublin

Contained on this week’s cover by the Project Twins are some of Dublin’s greatest writers.

Each icon represents a different writer or one of their well known pieces of work.

There are TEN in total.

Can you name them all?

A Le Cool goodie bag full of damn hipster knick knacks to the first correct/best entry.

Lines close at 1pm.

This is Billy in the Bowl. It’s one of my favourite stories about Dublin – a handsome beggar in the 18th century who was born without legs wheeled himself in a bowl around Stoneybatter, strangled people and eventually got caught. This is his ghost, which I definitely heard go by on several occasions when I lived on Prussia St.
