The two males had been sitting in the public gallery of the chamber of Mayo County Council during a meeting of the Council, which was adjourned early to facilitate a civic reception for the US Ambassador to Ireland, Kevin O’Malley.”
Before the arrival of the ambassador, one of the men was heard talking loudly to other people in the public gallery. He was approached by up to four gardaí, who asked him to leave the chamber, explaining that the civic reception was an invitation-only event.”
“Two other men were also spoken to and asked to leave the chamber. One was threatened with arrest before he eventually left but the other man refused and was also carried from the chamber.”
