Saturday April 12thHidden Agenda: Evian Christ, Mssingno, Rosbeg @ Button Factory, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin  (€8/€5, WIN TICKETS HERE)

Nialler9 writes:

He used to be a primary school teacher but then Kanye roped him in to do some production on his recent album Yeezus. Before that, Josh Leary was making some unique ambient electronic music with hip-hop samples, so the support MssingNo, whose wobbly tune XE2 last year sampled R Kelly is a nice fit. You can win tickets in this week’s guide.

Saturday March 1st: Sara Walsh Delaney benefit gig: The Redneck Manifesto, Jape, Dinah Brand @ The Grand Social, Lower Liffey Street, Dublin (€35)

Nialler9 writes:

Sara Walsh Delaney was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 at the age of 28 after being married to her husband Ben for just four months. After a massive brain hemorrhage during a biopsy, Sara had to be put into an induced coma. Her tumour was successfully treated with radiation therapy and she has been in three-month rehabilitation since January. This fundraiser gig featuring The Redneck Manifesto‘s only Irish show this year, an acoustic set from Jape, sets, DJ sets and a raffle, will help raise funds so Sara can continue rehabilitation in the UK long term.

St. Vincent, Saturday February 22nd  @ Olympia Theatre, Dame Street, Dublin (€25)

Nialler9 writes:

Annie Clark [St Vincent] has been one of the more interesting and inventive musicians working within the confines of American alternative-rock of late, and her fourth album (streaming here) is her best work; a brash and bold record with tough fuzz-rock casings and brass bounce touches. In a live setting, she’s now a much more comfortable and fearless performer (no doubt helped by recent collaborator David Byrne) and the live show benefits greatly from it.

Saturday: Lisa O’Neill, Seamus Fogarty @ Whelan’s, Camden Street, Dublin (€15)

Nialler9 writes:

Lisa O’Neill has gone from being a curious acquired taste to one of the best folk singer-songwriters around with the release of her second album Same Cloth Or Not, an album which has her delivering her songs with a greater conviction and authority while retaining her uniquely Irish character. Support from UK-based Fogarty whose music could be described as folk with ambient edges.
