-2Thursday November 7: Omar Souleyman, Toby Kaar @ Button Factory, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin (€18)

Nialler9 writes:

Omar Souleyman gained notoriety by playing his electronic music at weddings in Syria. He’s just made his first album with a worldwide release produced by Four Tet and even at 3am in the rain at Electric Picnic a few years back his live show was worth staying to dance in the rain to. It’s not often you get to experience truly culturally different electronic music. If you need further convincing, his new crazy video for ‘Warni Warni should do it.

-1Nialler9 and Choice Cuts present: Shangaan Electro @ The Sugar Club, Leeson Street, Dublin (Thursday)

Nialler9 writes:

Shangaan Electro is a special high tempo dance music masterminded by Nozinja, a producer from Soweto, Johannesburg in South Africa. The music starts at 180 BPM and features, sped-up vocal samples, marimbas, digital beats, synths and Afro-centric melodies. On-stage, the colourful performers dance like they have no bones in rubber-limbed fervour. You may have caught these guys at Body & Soul or the two Honest Jon’s Chop Up events last year in Cork and Dublin. There’s nothing quite like it. Win tickets in the Gig Guide (link below).
