You may remember Irish singer/songwriter Fia Moon (top) as one of the voices on the recent chart-topping cover of The Cranberries hit Dreams by Irish Women In Harmony.
Now she’s back with a new single and lyric video.
Fia says:
“It’s about accepting things for what they are and learning to let go of things that don’t make you happy. When you’re so comfortable in a situation, it can be really hard to detach yourself and recognize that you need to walk away and let go of the things that are ultimately holding you down.”
Dublin contemporary classical composer BK Pepper (top) performs his new single ahead of the release of his album Territories next month.
Influenced by the likes of Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm, Pepper combines supreme melody with real emotion.
BK says:
“The theme of Territories reflects how borders have become increasingly visible in recent years, with migration, trade disputes and now a global pandemic reshaping how territories are perceived, defined and enforced around the world.”
Dublin indie starlet Ciara Lindsey (top) aka Kynsy dons face paint and frolics in the grass in the self-directed video for her new single.
Ciara explains the theme of the song:
“It’s a tug-of-war between the positive and negative thought processes that occur when a relationship ends. It’s about accepting the fact that sometimes you have to laugh the pain away or look at negativity head-on in order to feel positive emotions and have positive thoughts again.”
Following on from her summer single Devices, Nicha (top) is back with a song with an important message for those in an abusive relationship.
The Hollywood, County Down singer/songwriter says:
“I feel there is a taboo around talking about domestic abuse, mental and physical. Women are suffering, men are suffering, there are so many victims even in this day and age. We need to raise awareness and remind people to talk more.”
The deeply moving video was directed by Gareth Stack and shot in Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross, Dublin, and the Botanic Gardens.
Laura said:
“Over the past couple of years I have been researching the neuropsychology of dementia with the aim of developing early indicators of this syndrome. Although risk factors have been identified, there is still so much we have yet to learn about the causes of dementia and how to prevent it.
“I wanted to do a fundraiser for The Alzheimer Society of Ireland as dementia affects so many people in Ireland. This year has been especially difficult for many of those living with these conditions and their carers and I hope through this fundraiser that we can raise awareness of their experiences and support them in some way.”
Patrick said:
“The song was written about the experience of living with dementia and it only felt right that any proceeds from it would go towards helping those who live with the condition – particularly in these difficult times we find ourselves in.”
The Paper Kites featuring Rosie Carney – By My Side
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs.
A case in point are The Paper Kites from Melbourne, Australia. On their new album Roses they collaborate with 10 different singers, including Irish songstress Rosie Carney (top) who complements singer Sam Bentley perfectly on their new single.
Truck-driving YouTube country sensation Marty Mone (top) continues to top the streaming charts. And his latest video shows you the hard miles he has travelled around the world in his rig.
It was partly shot at Ireland’s first ever drive-in gig in Ballymena, County Antrim – a snapshot of our post-COVID society.
