Men’s health charity Movember and Dublin creative agency In the Company of Huskies have collaborated to light up Poolbeg Chimneys with a ‘message of solidarity’ as part of Movember’s ‘Conversation Piece’ campaign.

‘Together We Stand’ is the first in a series of light installations, projected onto Dublin landmarks over the coming weeks.
The installation comes as new research reveals that one in three (30%) men said they feel lonely more often compared with before COVID-19 with more than half (54%) of men saying they feel less connected to friends and colleagues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The collaborative artworks from some of Ireland’s most notable cultural figures, artists and designers including Gavin Friday, Domino Whisker, Aches, Mundy and Tiny Ark aim to raise awareness around the importance of social connection and encourage meaningful conversation.

Problems with beaches along the Dublin coastline are persisting. Three of the five waters classified as being poor are in this region: Merrion strand, Sandymount strand and Portrane beach. In the case of Merrion strand, it risks being declassified as a bathing location next year, the EPA warns.
Urban wastewater is “the most common pressure impacting bathing water”, underlining the need for improvement in sewage treatment systems, it added.
Other bathing waters classified as poor were: Lilliput (Lough Ennell), Co Westmeath, and Clifden, Co Galway.
Harry Crosbie said he had received “significant positive feedback” for his proposal to refurbish the chimneys and create a lookout tower at Pigeon House.
Under his proposal, the lookout tower would stand as a separate structure next to the 207-metre tall chimney stacks. He said he had discussed the project with Marks Barfield, the company that designed The London Eye.
