MAUREEN WALLACE BREEDING TORTOISES AT HOME

A man has been jailed for nine months for stealing a tortoise and a homeless man’s mobile phone. David Weir took the tortoise from a Belfast pet store and sold it for £60 to feed his alcohol addiction, Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard. The tortoise, valued at £250, was stolen in August last year.

A defence lawyer told the court it was fit and well the last time Weir saw it. However, it was accepted that the defendant did not know where it was now. Judge Perry said that it could not have got very far.

I know you don’t usually this but my much loved tortoise has escaped from my garden in Millmount Grove, Windy Arbour/Dundrum.

if anyone lives in the area and finds him or hears about a rogue tortoise can they please contact me through Broadsheet. He’s only the size of a tea saucer and looks like a tortoise pretty much.

UPDATE:

“Great news! He was found 20 min ago chomping on some dandelions in my next door neighbour’s garden”
