First Sony, then Fox News and Apple Inc, now online payment service PayPal.
Well, PaypalUK’s Twitter feed anyway.
The company’s UK PayPal Twitter feed was breached as the person behind the hacking this evening started posting messages and ‘retweeting’ other people’s messages.
A spokesman said: ‘PayPal UK’s Twitter feed was targeted by hackers tonight. PayPal would like to reassure all customers that PayPal’s UK customer systems and data have not been breached or hacked in any way. There is no link between customer systems and our Twitter account.’

UPDATE: How it eventually finished up, via PZM’s blog, Pharyngula:
The Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA), has banned the use of the words ‘Twitter’ and ‘Facebook’ from the French airwaves.
Facebook and Twitter are, of course, American social networks. In France, they are regarded — at least implicitly — as symbols of Anglo-Saxon global dominance — along with Apple, MTV, McDonald’s, Hollywood, Disneyland, and other cultural juggernauts. That there is a deeply-rooted animosity in the French psyche towards Anglo-Saxon cultural domination cannot be disputed; indeed, it has been documented and analysed for decades. Sometimes this cultural resentment finds expression in French regulations and laws, frequently described, and often denounced, by foreigners as protectionism.
CSA spokesperson Christine Kelly offered the following explanation of the regulator’s decree:
“Why give preference to Facebook, which is worth billions of dollars, when there are many other social networks that are struggling for recognition,” she said. “This would be a distortion of competition. If we allow Facebook and Twitter to be cited on air, it’s opening a Pandora’s Box — other social networks will complain to us saying, ‘why not us?’”
French blogger, Benoit Raphael has suggested a phrase that might be used to skirt the ban:
“Retrouvez la couverture en temps réel du procès via notre fil sur la plateforme qui permet de diffuser des messages de 140 signes”.
“Find the live coverage of the trial on our thread on the platform that allows the broadcast of 140-character messages.”

Bird lovers at the Latvian weekly magazine, Ir covered a keyboard with unsalted fat and left it out for the birds at the village of Sarnate on the west coast. As well as helping the birds survive the harsh Latvian winter, it hooks them up to a Twitter account.
As they peck, they tweet.

atThe identities of a string of celebrities who have taken out super-injunctions to protect their private lives have been exposed on Twitter.
In a direct breach of a slew of draconian court orders issued over the past few months, a blogger tweeted the names of celebrities to thousands of internet users.
The expose, by the blogger, who calls himself Super Injunction, became a ‘trending term’ on Twitter, which means it was one of the most talked-about subjects on the site.
However, the names of the stars and certain key facts that could reveal their identities have been replaced by the term ‘REDACTED’ – a legal term to describe the removal of sensitive material.
