Dunno if you’ve been informed already or even care that much but the Household Charge website seems to be having trouble handling the amount of traffic coming its way over the last while. I’ve been trying to create an account on the site for the last day or so and every time I finish the registration form I’m met with the error message “there was an issue processing your request”. Some on boards.ie are suggesting that it’s an issue in relation to their server capacity which seems a bit mad given the fact the if you are rolling out a charge aimed at 1.6 million households or whatever then you would expect their website to be able to handle the pressure.
Maybe shitloads of peeps are desperate to pay the charge before March 1. Either way, I’m going on my tea break.

I work in an IT department and had a report from a user who couldn’t get on to justice.ie  [Department of Justice & Equality website]. Our web traffic is routed through a European filtering service so it appears as if we’re in mainland Europe. It turns out the site is accessible only within Ireland. I’ve confirmed it with friends in the US, Japan and UK.  Do you think the Department of Justice are taking lessons from the Chinese VP?

It’s down. Wiki says this – “It appears that Bebo has shut down on the 30th January 2012, without prior notice. This could simply be an issue with the server, or it could be Bebo.com finally cracking under the pressure of trying to continue running. The website is currently still down and appears to be down indefinitely”. Thought ye’d like to know. It’s oddly unsettling news for my generation.
